Just a quick hop between a boat, bus, train, cab, plane, plus another taxi, and I find myself in New York City.
I celebrated by leaving my flip flops on the island and officially donned a fall wardrobe including real shoes, leggings and a wool dress. WOOL already.
I am here for Integrative Nutrition’s live New York event, which today featured Dr. Pierre Dukan, Sally Fallon Morrell, and Dr. Joel Fuhrman. Tomorrow we will hear from Dr. Mark Hyman and Deepak Chopra.
But for now, one of the highlights of my day was seeing some old friends and meeting some new.
Earlier today, I made a new friend. She happened to find the seat next to me, and I quickly found a soul sister in her.
She is a fashionista who used to be a stylist for the film industry in Europe. She shared stories with me from her work, and I especially loved this tidbit: Everybody lies about their dress size. Even actors. Especially male actors.
And, how silly is that?
Mostly because it’s true. And, I know I am guilty of secretly daydreaming about a size 6 when really I am a size 8 or 10. Sure, I have some pieces that are size 4. But, I have others that are size 12.
The fact is size matters.
But, not the size stamped on the back of our pants.
Mostly, it’s the size of our hearts.
And, as I sit here typing this post on Holly Getty’s couch (snuggled up next to her dog Matteo) I am so thankful and grateful to have such a kind and welcoming friend with such a big heart in this big city.
