It’s cold here!
We woke up to no hot water.
But we celebrated Brady’s birthday anyway.
He’s now a year old.
It’s hard to believe that this little guy…
…Turned into this big guy.

It’s also hard to believe how fast times flies.
But I think it was even harder to wake up to NO HOT WATER. Which is fine when it’s warm outside, but it was a freezing, arctic landscape this morning.
I mean like …maybe 4 degrees? 5 tops.
(Which, amazingly, didn’t stop this swan from swimming in the tidal pools outside!)
We quickly discovered that our water pipes froze overnight in the arctic wind. So we dismantled the guest bedroom to find space to put two heaters in front of the water heater — all to de-ice the machine that delivers my beloved hot showers.
Turns out my birthday gift was hiding in that room.
Who knew? I certainly didn’t.
Not the first time I walked into the room. Or the second …or the third.
Finally, Justin gave up and gave me my birthday gift a few days early.
A KEURIG coffe maker…
And, I believe it just might have the warmest water in the entire house!
Oh, wait. I take that back… this just in…
WE HAVE HOT WATER!
Excuse me, I think I need to take a shower. And then I need to make myself a cup of coffee. Or hot cocoa. Or tea.
Oh! The options are (hot and) endless!
More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
P.S. Drat! I don’t have my gift of the day figured out yet. I’m working on it and will report back tomorrow.

Thank God and science that you have hot water back! Happy Birthday, to all. Embarrassed to say I can’t think of a best birthday present. Can remember teen age friends visiting at my house and finding and reading aloud my birthday wish list….arggh! Still feel face getting red. How not cool was that?!
XO, YSA
Oh, isn’t it amazing how we never get over those moments. They tend to stick with us! I love imagining you as a teenager – how fun!
For my 50th birthday I got the most thoughtful gifts, my brother flew me and a friend to Vegas to meet Elton John and sit in box seats with Clyde Drexler at the Red Piano Concert as well as a fabulous meal at the top of the Eiffel Tower, My sister Rosemary gave me a book of hand prints of the people who had been a big part of my life, my dad gave me my oms mink stole that he told me I could have when I grew up, long story, and my mom gave me the cookie jar from my childhood
Wow, dream birthday! I love it!!
