Day 324: a saga of the chipped tooth and why you are smarter and stronger than you think

21 Nov

My tooth chipped.

So today I ran to the dentist — well, I RAN to catch the train to go to the dentist.

It made me realize that there is nothing more humiliating for a One-And-Done Marathoner than to fall completely out of breath into a seat on the commuter rail — after running one block to catch the train. ONE BLOCK.

I suppose the lesson here is that it’s time to start some cardio again.

It was all worth it though, I have a new set of teeth:

And I learned another lesson today too.

Since this was the FOURTH time — yes #4 — I have had this same front tooth fixed by the same dentist (Dr. Davis in Boston — he is absolutely fabulous! Highly recommend.) I decided to look up the metaphysical symptoms behind teeth problems.

Here’s what I found:

TEETH PROBLEMS: Being indecisive, not being able to break down ideas for analysis and decisions.

AFFIRMATION: I make my decisions based on the principles of truth, and I rest securely knowing that only right action is taking place in my life.

It has me thinking. Which I will keep doing because I have clearly not learned my lesson in the tooth department yet.

Speaking of lessons…

While sitting on the train I overheard a grandmother say to her five-year-old grandson:

“We are always smarter and stronger than we think.”

To which he said:

“Nana, you know what? You know what we should do sometime…We should go in a space machine!”

Well said.
I agree with both of you.

So I will choose to go back in time and not bite the nail that originally chipped my tooth. Even though I do know that is not possible I also know that I will be just fine.

Because we are always smarter and stronger than we think.
