BLOG – GIFT DAY 324 a month of inspiration :: shining some light

20 Nov

Today, I am inspired by a few women around the the country.

Calling GLO-RI-A. Actually not that one, this one:

Today, Ms. co-founder Gloria Steinem received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama, the highest award a citizen can be given.

I was most impressed with her words of wisdom:

“People often ask me at this age, ‘Who am I passing the torch to?’ First of all, I’m not giving up my torch, thank you! I’m using my torch to light other people’s torches. … If we each have a torch, there’s a lot more light.”

I find her words inspiring and once again based on giving… and that’s the core of this abundance thing that I’ve been exploring all year long. It pops up over an over again in everything that I read.

For instance…

Living is giving, is what Tony Robbins wrote in Re-Awaken the Giant Within. I just finished his book (and you can get it for free by clicking here).

If we each have a torch there is more light.
I love this statement.

Which brings me to Siiri Morley’s Prosperity Catalyst newsletter today and their latest grant to bring economic prosperity by teaching candle making skills to women in Iraq. You can read all about it here.

And finally, today I fell in “ah” with Em John Jewelry. Looking for a great gift this holiday? Try these totally cute bracelets made by Emma Johnson who was — is — inspired to create a whole bunch of abundance before she goes to college … thus the Em John College Challenge.

I love a good challenge.
Challenges inspire me to be better, do more, give more, play more, and love more.

Inspiration literally means “in” “spire” or to breathe from Latin inspīrāre —and I think these women are breathing new life into the world and into other lives too.

Pass the torch.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore {fearless!}
Jamie

{who can you in-spire?}
