2014 BLOG – DAY 15 :: the green balloon and a gym

15 Jan

I did something today I haven’t done in years.

We joined a gym. One. Year. Commitment.

Why is this remarkable? Well, we haven’t lived in one place for one entire year for the past five years. Twelve. Months. 365. Days.

We haven’t been around long enough in one town to struggle to get off the couch to remember to go to a gym where we pay dues in order to work out, swim, lift weights, take group classes, sweat, what have you…

Really, it’s been that long.
So today when our membership counselor took out a piece of paper and asked us to write down the reason why we were joining a gym and then he tied it to the end of a string attached to a green ballon, I was amazed.

Not so much because it’s a great marketing ploy. (It is.) And not so much because it’s a great moment to break old habits and commit to new (peak performance!) ones. (Also good.)

No. As the green balloon left our fingers and we released it to the sky above with a promise attached, I was more amazed at the commitment we are making to one town on one coast.

For 365 days.
Hopefully all of these days add up to rock hard abs, bulging biceps, totally toned quads and buns of steel.

If not, I take solace in the fact that we’ve already made huge leaps and bounds by staying in one place long enough to join a gym and let a green ballon fly.

What balloons will you fly this year?

More tomorrow.
Lovemore {fearless}

{what balloons will you fly this year?}
