2014 BLOG – DAY 36 :: peek performance: goals

5 Feb

Goals speak for themselves. Sometimes.

Tonight, as I readied myself to move my legs on the treadmill, I was reminded of goals. The word GOAL practically screamed at me in big letters.

On one side was a minus and the other side held a plus. Taunting me. As if chiding and challenging me to decide which direction I was going to go.

Up or down.

I went up, up, and away. For thirty seconds at a time in “sprints” — and that’s better than nothing.

I made a promise with myself to go to the gym every single day this week. Even if I felt crappy (I did) or tired (I am) or completely depleted (yup!).

My back-up plan was this: IF NOTHING ELSE I will go to the gym and sit in the sauna. It’s way easier than running on the treadmill, plus, it makes me sweat more. And I like it.

And you know what.
It works.

Just having a small, tiny, almost crazy, silly, simple goal gets me to the gym.
And sometimes, like tonight, I even run on the treadmill.

It’s a good reminder that peek performance is sometimes as simple as doing something.

Even if it is running for thirty seconds at a time.
Or sitting still and sweating.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore {fearless}

{what makes you sweat?}
