Jamie’s BLOG – DAY 173 :: beautiful books and garage sale finds

21 Jun

Books.
I do love books.

And today at a garage sale I found some old books that are new to me. As I sifted through the boxes of books about health, fitness, cooking, spirt, yoga, drawing, I couldn’t help but think, “What do my books say about me?”

If someone scanned my bookshelf they would get a pretty interesting glimpse about me. But the books wouldn’t tell the whole story.

If you saw, “Are You There Vodka? It’s Me Chelsea” you might think I enjoy Chelsea Handler’s comedy. I don’t. I didn’t even finish reading that book because I was so annoyed with her humor. (Sorry Chelsea)

There are marketing books and business books. Self help books and design books. There are memoirs and history books. Each one is like a time capsule of my life, reflecting something I was trying to learn or seeking to avoid.

Someday in the great future I will have a garage sale. I’m sure there will be a much younger woman looking through my books rolling her eyes at my reading choices, life issues, craved learnings.

But I hope she finds something in that box that resonates with her heart. And I really wish for her to meet one of my books precisely in the exact moment she needs it.

I do love books.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

{what do books say about you?}

    Thanks Jamie. You always seem to know how to get me to think about something more contemplative than the every day grind. Cheers!!

    How human – I was once changing a diaper on a guest bed and got so interested in the owner’s books on the shelf over it that the baby peed on the bedspread. UMMM
