JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 348 :: hope is a muscle, and a connection

19 Dec

Peak performance moment of the day:  Fa la la la la la la hot spot!

The great travel has begun, the journey home to that little spot in Idaho where I grew up. We made it to Portland tonight and I find myself searching for a connection. An internet connection.

That’s the funny thing about this blog. It has made me more connected to finding connections than ever before. Over four years, through hurricanes, vacations, Nor’easters, 30 foot waves taking off the front porch of our house, getting locked out of our vacation villa in Mexico, traveling to Paris, rafting down the Grand Canyon, surgery, after surgery, after another surgery …. I have been forced to find an internet connection to post this blog.

Somedays I have cheated and posted a short post. Somedays I have prescheduled the posts, because let’s face it, there’s no internet connection in the Grand Canyon or the surgery room. And other days, no matter where I find myself,  I have counted on my trusty iPhone for a hot spot connection.

Tonight I find myself sitting in a parked car, with laptop on my lap, heater on, hooked up to my iPhone. It’s the only connection around without trying to find a Starbucks.

I have become so trusting of having a connection that tonight when I couldn’t get my iPhone to work I almost panicked. But hope is a muscle. It’s one I have conditioned and strengthened into peak performance to perform over and over again, night after night, word after word on this blog.

Because we can always find a connection.
Even if it means hunkering down in a car with iPhone pointed in the right direction just slightly to the left sitting on the dashboard.

You can always find a connection.

Tomorrow I head to Idaho, hoping to find another kind of connection, back to my family, back to my hometown, back to my roots.

iPhone in hand.
Fa la la la la la la la hot spot!

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
