JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 117 :: ten things every mom needs

30 Apr

I have to agree with the wisdom from Kid President.

This one’s for the moms.

It made me laugh…and that brought me bliss.

More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 115 :: popping and unfolding!

28 Apr
It’s happening… the Rhodies are popping and unfolding.
Right. Before. My. Eyes.

So beautiful. And it brings me so much bliss. Simple, simple bliss.

More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 114 :: kiss my…

27 Apr

My grandmother had a magnet on her refrigerator that said “Kiss My Grits“. It was a quote from “Flo” on the show Alice. It always made me laugh because I couldn’t image my Grandmother ever saying it out loud to anyone.

Which brings me to this 72-year old woman’s song about Kiss My ____ from Britain’s Got Talent.

Further proof that bliss doesn’t have an age and everyone deserves a chance to rock.

More tomorrow.

Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 113 :: a geranium by any other name

26 Apr

I potted today. I meant to pot Geraniums.

I went searching for Geraniums at the nursery and came home with Marigolds and Dahlias and Asters. To me, these are all names that sound right out of the roaring twenties. Until today the only difference I could spot between these flowers was red, orange and yellow …colors, not form.

I was searching for a red flower, since I wanted it to match our front door. I was on the hunt for Geraniums given the hint and advice from Jaynane. But inside the nursery I got sidetracked by the Dahlias, and then the Marigolds and finally ended up buying seeds for Asters too.

It wasn’t until way after I potted up all the plants that I realized I never bought a Geranium. I thought I did. But I didn’t.

Alas, all is well as all of these pretty pots now pop with a little bit of color on the front porch.  Which brings me bliss. And anticipation.

Will the Asters grow? Can I keep the Dahlia alive? Will the Marigolds survive?

If not, I guess I’ll just have to go out and buy a Geranium.

More tomorrow.

Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 112 :: the roses are coming

25 Apr

The roses are coming! The roses are coming!

And the rhododendrons aren’t far behind. I can hardly wait.

Since moving to Oregon, the land of flowers, I have been perplexed by the petals popping out of the ground. Like magic, seemingly dormant and disguised as dried up branches, a bud appears. And then a bloom. And I stand mesmerized. Every. Single. Time.

“Seeing beauty in a flower could awaken humans, however briefly, to the beauty that is an essential part of their own innermost being, their true nature.”
– Eckhart Tolle

It’s like budding bliss each time as it buoys my soul.
And we have lift off.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 110 :: treadmill, wall sits, plank, oh my!

23 Apr

Treadmill. Wall sits. Plank.

This body is getting back in action….tonight we hit 60 seconds on the plank.

This was only after we did our requisite 35 seconds and then Justin challenged me to a minute. So we did it, shaking muscles and all. Given the timing increase and my sheer determination to keep planking it up, I found this inspiring image.

This is why we plank:

Tomorrow night I think I may need to start reading a magazine article to get through…

More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 109 :: don’t stop believing

22 Apr
Oh boy! This video of a little boy singing Don’t Stop Believing brought me a little bit of bliss today.

I mean, seriously!

What a gift. What a voice. What a beautiful way to uplift others.
(thanks for sharing with me Justin).

Don’t. Stop. Believing.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 108 :: plank, plank it up!

21 Apr
It’s officially official. We have reached 30 seconds in the Plank Challenge. Some nights I think I can do more and hold it for ten minutes, other nights I’m ready to cave as ten seconds tick away.
I suppose that is the way of the modern world. Feeling like Superwoman one second, and then a total mess the next.

Maybe I wouldn’t appreciate the plank so much if I didn’t have a little struggle to hold it so tight? I suppose balance brings perspective.

Are you planking with us? Let me know how it’s going for you…
I hear it does a body good.

In other news…. Happy Earth Day. This is (apparently) the animal I am according to Google’s little logo game:

You’re a woolly mammoth!

So unique, you’re technically extinct, but on the bright side scientists hope to be able to clone you some day!

Here’s to being unique.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
