JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 199 :: kookaburra sits in the old gum tree…

24 Jul

I can’t get the song out of my head, ever since this bird decided to drop in on our tennis match. Not drop in as in bird drops, but drop in as if he was literally sitting on the fence watching us play tennis.

Even when an errant ball went flying in his direction, he stood his ground. Like a fan in the stands. Watching the ball go from side to side. Like he was sizing us up and making mental notes on our forehands.

It went on so long it made me giggle. I finally stopped the game to take a photo of him. He just sat there. Looking around like we were the odd birds.

It wasn’t until then, after I took the photo, and after we began our match play that the bird flew away. Like he was satisfied having been noticed and properly photographed. Maybe I should have asked for his autograph?

I’m not sure what this has to do with bliss…. but I’m guessing that bird got a good laugh at us tonight. Bird’s bliss view?

More tomorrow.
