JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 180 :: keepin’ it happy

5 Jul

Day 180: Taking Time.

Oh, this promise thing! Sometimes it makes me feel happy, sometimes it makes me feel like a hot mess. You know, when it’s almost midnight and I still have to do yoga?
Yeah… like one of those nights.

I always end up feeling better after yoga. Even if it hurts. Well, mostly. And I think that’s part of the lesson of a home practice – you set your own pace. Or rather, I set my own pace. Which is good (mostly) and bad (sometimes).

Sometimes we need someone to push us – and sometimes it’s best when that person isn’t on a video that I can just fast forward through the hard poses. What, me? I never do that. Okay, maybe I do. Usually on nights like this.

So tonight, I will set an intention to just keep it happy.
And not fast forward.

More tomorrow.

{fast forwarding?}

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 180 :: a day on the bay

5 Jul

Day 180: America the beautiful.

Happy Birthday America! And our day couldn’t have been more American… with twists and turns and a little sunshine and craziness.

What’s more American than…

  • More Sheriff’s in the biggest squad of police control I have ever seen
  • A grill strapped down in the bed of a pickup truck waiting to be unloaded on the beach
  • Waterfront dining with calamari and shrimp and french fries (yum!)
  • Driving around Lake Whatcom and seeing house celebrations on the front yard, in the back yard and on the pier
  • Visiting a State Park a Waterfall and a Fish Hatchery
  • Two Golf Courses
  • One Crazy Lady (seriously… she yelled at us to DRIVE AWAY because we stopped to comment on her cute doggie) I believe the words were “IF YOU DON’T KNOW ME DRIVE AWAY NOW!”
  • Kids in Pajamas and Tutus and blankets and sleeping bags getting ready to view the fireworks
  • Wine
  • Beer
  • Berries
  • Fireworks
  • Waterfront fireworks
  • Sail boats and firewords
  • Tug boats, barges and fireworks
  • Little kids tackling each other with footballs and wiffle balls
  • Drunk Boaters [overheard: “Scott, you’re welcome on our boat anytime!”
  • Low tides
  • High tides
  • BBQ salmon
  • Snap peas
  • Corn bread
  • Flags
  • Fireworks

It was a day that was supposed to rain, but instead we had sun.
It was a day of surprise adventures, a little bit of crazy and a lot of fun.
So what could be more American than that?

Happy Birthday to the Stars and Stripes.
Crazy, Beautiful and All.

More tomorrow.

PS – and now yoga!
