Reunion.
I’m here in the mountains of Colorado, with Justin’s family. And what they always teach me, whenever they gather, is that just being together is an act of kindness.
They have gathered for 50 years. As a family, starting as brothers and sisters and then aunts and uncles, with cousins and cousins and then grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
They have waterskied and hiked and rode horses and rafted and golfed and played cards together. Along the adventure, they have added four generations over fifty years. I feel honored to be included in their latest adventure.
It is kindred and it is kind.
But it is so much more than that. To them, it may seem normal. Even routine, this reunion. But it is an incredible act of kindness. To gather, tell stories, relive adventures and create new ones with new generations and new additions.
These are not just moments, they are memories. Passed on and down and around the family tree, weaving its way around the campfire and into the hearts of the next generation.
By just being together.
How kind.
