Day 2 on the train.
I love the train. I think it’s something that just gets in your blood. Tonight I had dinner with two older Australian gentlemen who are traveling the country visiting air shows. Last night I ran into the woman I boarded with originally in Chicago. She too had a layover (trainover?) in Minneapolis and we found ourselves boarding the train again at the same time three days later.are
There’s so much that I love about the train. The people. The sights. The feeling of being slowly whisked across the country.
And I really love the dining car.
The food is not a gourmet spread but it’s really not too bad. Better than any airplane food I have ever had. And, to be honest, probably better than my own culinary creations at home.
It’s been almost 24 hours on the train for me. My hair is getting a little bit greasy. My legs a bit tired. But the trip is still an adventure. The sights are still making me sigh with awe and disbelief. The beauty is breathtaking.
It’s been a small gift of kindness to myself, to take the long way home. The slow train.
But so worth the richness and wonderment.
More tomorrow….
