JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 204 :: kind of big

15 Aug

Truck.

This is a truck. One really BIG truck.

I had to rent a car today and the friendly staff at Enterprise offered me this big beauty. So, of course being one up for any adventure, I said, Yes.

Truthfully, it’s been a very long time since I drove a truck. And, it’s been a REALLY long time since I drove a truck this big. We have to go all the way back to high school and to a 16-year-old Jamie who just received the biggest ticket to freedom – her driver’s license.

My sister and I couldn’t agree on a car schedule so I decided I would just drive my dad’s old Ford truck (with a capital T) that sat out in front of the house. It was used for camping trips mostly, but I decided if I packed it with my girlfriends and basketball team it would be cool enough for school. We called it The. Big. Blue. Bomber.

I drove The BIg Blue Bomber everywhere. School. Drive-In. Basketball Practice. And everywhere else in between. Okay, it was Idaho, so it wasn’t that weird. But still…. in a world of cute little cars it was a bold choice.

Today, in another bold choice, I looked at the Ram 1500 and said yes. Not only because it was funny, and an adventure — but also a little bit because it made me remember that confident teenage girl who decided SHE could drive a truck to school – and everywhere else.

And I think it’s a “Kind” move to listen to that little teenage girl once in a while.
Even when she wants to drive an enormous truck.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie
