Her-story.
Amelia has my attention. After seeing a photo of her on a Fairhaven shop wall today, my interested was peaked. The shop owner said her grandfather was Amelia’s cousin. How intriguing! I asked the shop owner what she thought her theory of Amelia’s mysterious disappearance was and we chatted for a while, talking myth and mystery.
So tonight, I watched a documentary about her life.
What a life.
As I think about Kindness, I realize the kind act that Amelia performed for so many women after her. She was more than a trailblazer. She became a mythical hero of sorts, paving the way for women after her to point to the sky and know that they too can do anything.
Who knows the truth of how her story ended? But I do know this: It only takes one to go first, in order to allow more to fly after.
She certainly inspired the beginning of many little girls stories and dreams and biggest adventures.
How kind.
