I have a history of shopping. I have given it up, become more conscious and tamed my inner shopaholic. I have also discovered the kindness of consignment.
Today, I physically took the sweater off this mannequin (and bought it). In a consignment shop. I’m trying to figure out if that was a kind act. On one hand, I love the idea of clothing getting new life, new ownership, a new home. I love the circle it creates in my life and others.
Then…on the other hand, I don’t love buying new clothes because my old clothes don’t fit. It’s never fun to go up a size (or two). But kindness is teaching me to love my body – and my booty! – even if the clothing I love doesn’t fit anymore.
So here’s to clothes, consignment, and re-newing clothes. No matter what the size.
How kind.
More tomorrow…
