Today I continue the month of Christmas Kindness!
As I checked out at the grocery store tonight I was reminded about the importance of celebration. Not because of my bananas or honey or gluten-free bread. But because the checker asked me if I had a good day.
“Oh, um…” I found myself muttering. “Yes, I think so.”
She then said, “Me too! My grandmother turned 91 today and I called to wish her a happy birthday.”
“Wow,” I replied. “That is a good day. Is your grandmother still physically well?”
I wasn’t sure how to ask if her grandmother was healthy at ninety-one years of age.
“Yes, she still works. Both my grandparents do!” She cheerfully said. “My grandmother always says it is important to stay busy.”
Indeed. I think that’s good advice. Especially in this busy season of hustle and bustle and holiday cheer.
To stay young, stay busy.
