JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 58 :: joyful

28 Feb
{faith}

 I was thinking a lot about faith today. The power of keeping the faith. The importance of believing in your dreams and passions, even in the face of diversion. I once read that the setback is really the set-up. The stepping stone to what is next.

It has me thinking that Faith is the thread that pulls us forward when we can’t see in the dark. And JOY is on the other side…pulling and tugging and drawing us near.

Here’s to faith – and joy!

More tomorrow…

Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 57 :: sunshine & joy

27 Feb
{breakthrough)

Sometimes the breakthrough comes after the break… and today, the sun broke through the clouds outside my window. If only for a moment.

It had me thinking about the joy of spring. And how I cannot wait to experience more of it.

My heart is calling for spring. And our world is certainly calling for more joy. May they both sprout forth.

More tomorrow…

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 56 :: enjoy

26 Feb
{repeat}

It’s almost march. MARCH? And joy has me realizing one thing… we have to en-joy the process. Otherwise, time just flies by. Enjoy your process… whatever it may be:

  • letting in love
  • getting over grieving
  • releasing anger
  • finding your truth
  • doing your job

More tomorrow…

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 55 :: blooming

25 Feb
{defrost}

The snow has melted. And my little flowers outside my office window seemed to have survived the storm. They are brighter green today than they have been all week. It has me thinking of spring, and blossoms and the power of blooming.

But I know that the petals are really just the expression of all the work that happens before the flower blooms. The struggle in the soil, the surviving of the winter storms, the seeds that were planted so long ago. Blooming always starts on the inside, deep beneath the surface.

I have a feeling that is where JOY comes from too.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 54 :: joyous investing

24 Feb
{invest}

My first Kiva! And I couldn’t be more proud.

This is the introduction of Pretty Pockets, a company that is empowering moms with nothing but elegant and practical accessories they are proud to wear.

I love this diaper bag backpack that also holds a bottle and diaper changer inside this very stylish package. It is a Kiva project that I participated in by giving a small loan to a woman with a big dream.

The irony is that it was a wedding gift to Justin and I… and it keeps on giving. I love following the development of the brand and the product as well as Madhu‘s updates in the process.

It brings me great joy. I don’t know if it’s the investment in someone else’s dream more than the return I get in my heart. But, joy it is.

And that has me thinking about investments. And investment in someone else’s dream is a contribution to your heart with exponential returns.

Pretty Pockets, indeed!

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 53 :: joyous snow

23 Feb
{joy time}

It snowed today. A tiny bit. So little, I could still see green grass outside my window. But apparently, it was a big deal. Everyone was nervous about the roads, and schools closing early, and doctors offices closed due to the storm.

I was surprised. Especially after surviving so many Boston winters of the past. Part of me was like… “Seriously!!! I drove to work, uphill, both ways in two feet of snow!”

Of course, the weather will always change (as do our memories!). The challenge is to find joy in the moment right now, wherever it finds you. Rain or shine.

Maybe joy is all about staying flexible?

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 52 :: expanding the good

22 Feb
{true joy}

I was thinking about the good things today. And then I thought about joy. And then I thought…Maybe joy is just starting where you are and expanding the good from there.

We all have to begin somewhere.

Good.

More tomorrow…

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 51 :: inner peace

21 Feb
{true joy}

I’ve been thinking a lot about tough skin this week. It’s come up a couple times. As a sensitive soul, I have been told more than once in my life that I need to have thicker skin.

But now I know, it’s the sensitive ones that change the world. It’s the sensitive ones that feel so deeply they have to speak up. It’s the sensitive ones that make a difference.

I’ve been watching these young teenagers speak up over the last week. About their truth. About their anger. About what they think needs to change. And it’s so reassuring to me.

Being sensitive is a direct connection from heart to soul. It’s a filter that doesn’t allow anything else in but the truth to come out. It also requires a sense of inner peace, to be strong enough to feel what’s real.

You don’t need tough skin when you have inner peace.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 50 :: one step forward

20 Feb
{pushing joy}

It hit me today. I’ve spent my entire life pushing joy. Pushing it around in front of me. All the diagnoses, the doctors, and the surgeries. They have all been me pushing me forward, to find joy.

And I think that’s the payoff of persistence. Which I am, if nothing else.

I also realized something else today. Sometimes we don’t know where it’s all going — or what we are pushing toward. But it’s important to keep going.

Even when it feels like you can’t keep going, you can. Pick yourself up and take just one step forward.

Keep pushing joy.

Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 49 :: joy of friends

19 Feb
{inside}

I’ve been thinking a lot about friends these days. The people in my life, who have come in and out at just exactly the right times.

There are few words to describe it, but there is so much joy.

It has me thinking about the joy of friends. The lifelong joy and this very moment joy, and all the tiny turns in between.

A good friend is a mirror, holding you up to your greatest potential. And catching so you don’t fall to your lowest point. They are givers of good in so many ways.

I feel blessed in the friendship department. The sisterhood of the traveling friends. You know who you are!

Here’s to all the friends. New. Old. Silver. Gold.
Thank you for the joy.

More tomorrow…

Lovemore,
Jamie
