JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 159 :: the joy of familiar

In my latest Netflix binge I’m catching up with David Letterman and his guests on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. Just hearing his iconic voice brings me to a place of good humor and intrinsic trust.

In it, Letterman is doing what he does best, interviewing others with respect, humor and pointed questions. For me, it brings me right back to a time when watching television was a family activity. It was the hub of information, and the hosts were our trusted advisors. Even in the late of night, their voices were as familiar as a neighbor, as if they held a spot at the dinner table because after dessert there was TV.

We are far from those days now with a plethora of channels and screens and hosts and bloggers and fake news and noise.

It reminds me that sometimes just a familiar voice is all you need to tap into a reservoir of joy. Even if it is someone you have never really met.

More tomorrow…

Lovemore,
Jamie
