Today was a celebration of life, love, and beauty. As we sat in the church saying goodbye to our beloved Aunt Nancy, I sat watching the sky through the large windows overlooking the chapel. The trees seemed to be dancing in the sky above us. And just as we began the service the clouds started to cry. Raindrops fell out of the clouds and the tears ran down my cheeks.
I couldn’t help but think that it was all timed and choreographed by Nancy, from somewhere far away, in the distance, above us, around us and for us. There were stories, songs, photos and so many memories.
And then there were the flowers.
Nancy loved flowers and they loved her. She had a green thumb and was always surrounded by flowers. She grew them. And they grew for her. I couldn’t help but think how proud she would be of all the flowers in her honor.
Flowers are a simple act of love, beauty and joy. Just like our Nancy.
