My arms hurt. My legs are getting sore. It all hurts so good. Today I tried my first OrangeTheory class, evah (as you would say in Boston). It was actually in Hingham and I have been eyeing the studio for a while. Since I had the day off (thank you Good Friday!) I decided to jump in both feet first.
That’s usually the problem. Jumping in blindly. I was, in fact, nervous that I wouldn’ be able to keep up in the workout since it’s been a long winter. But the whole point of OrangeTheory is to push your own limits not trying to keep up (thus the heart rate monitors, tracked data and orange zone).
It’s still hard not to try to keep up. Ah, limits and boundaries and the word no. So hard to implement. But I did, or at least I tried to slow down to my own pace and then push my own limits too. Because, really, at the end of the day we are the only ones who know our own limits.

But it takes a lot of trust and some self-knowledge to listen to your own limits and not others. And with that, I will admit, I will be very sore in the morning. But a good kind of sore. A just-for-me kind of sore and there is something special about that.
Trust me!
More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
