It’s the height of summer here in Boston. The days are hot and the nights are long. But it won’t always be that way, as we all know, too soon the leaves will begin to fall. So I am holding onto these last weeks of brilliant beauty in the flowers all around me. The birds singing in the morning. The beach waves on the weekend. It’s all so beautiful with the filter of summer.
And maybe it’s just the understanding that summer will not last forever that makes each day so bright. Football is already on television in the form of preseason games, but still, it is the first sign of summer’s slow down.
So tonight I hold the beauty of summer in my heart and trust in my head there will be so many things to look forward to this fall.
