JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 309 :: trust inner knowings

5 Nov

{trust}

As I sit in the Naples airport I feel how long it has been since I have been here. Many, many years. This blog started nine years ago. It was nine years ago that we moved to Florida and it was nine years ago that I made my first promise, not to shop for an entire year. That year turned into nine and that move turned into six more.

So now I sit back in an airport, writing my blog. Just a normal night for me. This blog started as a way to keep me accountable to my goal. I could have never guessed that it would follow me around for almost a decade into the future.

Nine is a sacred number in many ways.

In NumerologyNumber 9 is the symbol of wisdom and initiation. It is the last number before the next harmony.

In Chinese culture – Nine (九 pinyin jiǔ) is considered a good number in Chinese culture because it sounds the same as the word “long-lasting” (久 pinyin jiǔ). Nine is strongly associated with the Chinese dragon, a symbol of magic and power.

In Angel Numbers, Number 9 is a sign from the angels that your life path and soul mission involve being of service to humanity through the use of your natural skills and talents. Angel Number 9 suggests that you are a natural lightworker and encourages you to look to ways to serve others in positively uplifting ways

For me, Number 9 is a symbol of trust. I am trusting the inner knowings deep inside of me. The whispers telling me that it is time to make space for new adventures. The trust in knowing that this will be the last year of The Promise 365. I will finish out this year sharing what I have learned and where this blog has led me.

It started as a way to take care of my head, heart, body, and soul. And that it has, beyond my imagination. I will allow it to take me to the grand finale of 2019 (another nine number!) and carry with it all the lessons I have learned along the way.

Starting tomorrow, I will count down to the New Year by sharing highlights from these last nine years. I hope you come along for the journey!

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 96 :: trust new adventures

7 Apr

{trust}

We have created a spring monster. This morning Brady whined and ran around the house until we figured out what he wanted …to go back to the dog park.

So we did, and the very first dog family we met at the park had a little puppy Vizsla. It was like looking through a time machine and remembering what Brady looked like, played like and acted like seven years ago.

It has me thinking about new adventures and how bringing Brady home was such an adventure for us. Here’s Brady’s very first blog post from way back. Justin and I trusted that Brady was the perfect addition to our little pack way back then, even though we were still in the middle of our mobile cross-country adventure. But sometimes you have to stretch yourself and try new adventures.

And of course, trust the power to live… and those little puppy moments.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 39 :: sticking with it

8 Feb

Day 39. Expectations.

It’s funny what expectations can do to a person. They make you EXPECT something. And I think it’s in the expecting that the present tense begins to melt away.

That’s what I’m finding in this yoga promise to date. I expected by now – day 39 of yoga – that’s 39 days in a ROW that I have been doing yoga poses, yoga bends, yoga upwards and downwards – that I would be, well, ripped. Tight muscles. Maybe even three dress sizes smaller! Hey, a girl can dream.

I have no idea WHY I thought that. I didn’t even know that I thought that, until of course I turned the corner of Day 39 and realized, “Oh, wow, I expected something here. And where is it?”

And I’m okay with it. Really. Because I’m learning to pay more attention to my body and what it wants to do (sometimes surprising, sometimes not so much) instead of what my HEAD wants it to do.

Listening. Seems to be one of the themes emerging so far this year. Listening deeply. But I’m not holding myself to that… could be too much of an expectation.

And I think that may be the key difference.

Learning to observe without expectation. Learning to be in what is, what is around me, what is going on, going down — without going all out expecation crazy.

Easier said than done.
And now, I’m off to do some yoga!

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 13 :: cha-cha-changes

13 Jan

Day 13. Cha-Cha-Changes.

In honor of David Bowie’s innumerable inspirations… today I’m thinking about changes.

So far, this is what 13 days of yoga has changed for me:

  • My pants fit slighter better (love that)
  • My head feels more clear (mostly)
  • I can almost place my feet flat to the ground in downward dog
  • I actually workout in my activewear

And, ironically, I realized that putting my body through even a slight bit of yoga everyday is like giving my body a massage (sweet!)More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
