JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 263 :: kindness is…

19 Sep

Personal.

I found this tonight:

It’s so true….
Yet, it’s the MOST true to self. I want to insert “Be kinder than you feel, to yourself.”
Sometimes being the most kind to myself if the hardest act to follow.

In this year of kindness, I am learning….sometimes there are reservoirs of kindness for others, and we need to leave a little bit inside for ourselves.

More tomorrow….

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 261 :: kindness is…

17 Sep

Taking a break.

Ah… Sundays are the best. Good food. Good friends. Good times.

Sundays are a moment to breathe. Relax. Watch a little football and a little bit of the Emmies.

Kindness is reminding me that sometimes the BEST kind of kindness is taking a break.

More tomorrow….

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 258 chic flick

14 Sep

Kind lifetimes.

I forced Justin to watch The Notebook with me tonight. If ever there was an act of kindness from a husband, it might be the act of being forced to watch a chic flick. Without screaming. Or complaining.

Okay, there was a little of both. But he watched it with me. And of course, I cried.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 256 :: oh kindness

13 Sep

Missed opportunity.

I didn’t run into my neighbors today.  I looked for them. I even took the dogs for a walk by their place. They weren’t there. So I missed my opportunity to do my kind deed.

So,  we focused on something else that would be kind instead. Readying our golf clubs.

It’s on the list of things we love…. and never do. So we are going to go try out the old golf clubs this weekend.

Which seems like a kind act if you ask me!

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 246 :: zoltar

3 Sep

Kind Antiques.

We ran into this mysterious man yesterday on our tour of La Conner.  It reminds me of the movie “Big” and it brought back big childhood memories too.

As well as this little guy:

There were many trinkets and memories and lots of “old” stuff in the antique market. And, as much as it makes me sneeze and some of it is just plain “OLD” there’s a certain amount of kindness that comes in antique packages.

Mostly, memories.
But also the knowledge and recognition that comes in remembering – the way things used to be. In so many ways, it’s not that different from today. And in many, it’s an entirely different world.

I wonder if Zoltar could see this future?

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 242 :: this little leaf of mine

30 Aug

I’m gonna let it shine.

This little leaf landed on my computer. I like this photo for the contrast. The red and the black and silver make for a nice pop of color.

I also like the contrast of technology and nature.

It’s a KIND reminder to me – to get outside. To not sit at my desk ALL day long. And to stop and smell the fresh fall air trying to circle all around me.

I like how this little leaf tells me such a big story. Pick up a leaf, take a break, and be kind to yourself.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 240 :: two months

28 Aug

Kind memories.

It was just two months ago today… and tonight I am taking in the memories. And take out! We celebrated our two month anniversary with Thai food and a movie.

Kindness comes in many forms – and celebrating the little anniversaries of life is one of them… even two months.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 239 :: tide rolling in

27 Aug

Kindness.

Yesterday, we spent the afternoon with family at the water’s edge watching the tide roll in. It was a wonderful invitation for a Saturday afternoon. And such a KIND moment to be with family, water, beach, nature, children, dogs, and of course, some treats too!

It was a treat to be treated to such a beautiful day outside with people we love.
Could anything be more kind?

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 209 :: kind surprises continued

20 Aug

Treasures.

I shared the Whale Watch surprise yesterday, but what I didn’t share was this surprise:

It’s a pretty little piece, a necklace, pendant, beautiful treasure on the end of a chain. We spotted while in Friday Harbor.

I should have known something was up Justin’s sleeve when he kept pointing to jewelry in the shop cases and saying they were pretty. This was the one I reacted to the most, this pendant of coral in the shape of a tree. We left the store, upon many stores and I forgot about it.

Then, on the last hour home, as we sat on the boat and watched the water move by our window, I looked down at the table and saw a white box. It was a jewelry box.

“What’s that?” I looked at Justin who wore a sly grin on his face.

“I don’t know,” he said, “you should open it up and see.”

It was, of course, the pendant I had seen in the store in Friday Harbor much earlier in the day. He has done this to me before. And, as always, I seem to be clueless, never realizing what he is up to until it is too late (or just right, I suppose!).

It’s a beautiful little pendant. It reminds me of our date with the whales on a sunny Saturday afternoon – and a few islands in-between. But, most of all, it reminds of the young man I first met when we were seventeen and the sweet husband I have now married.

He has always had a gift for gifting and surprises. And it’s not limited to the kind of treasures I wear around my neck. He is so generous with his time and his thoughts for everyone he loves. Sometimes I wonder if all those around him see what I see — a mind which is constantly examining others and figuring out what they want and need and wish for most.

So in this year of kindness, I realize this — the best teacher of how to be kind has been right before my eyes, at my side, holding my hand and watching me with those very observant brown eyes.

What he has taught me most is this:
Sometimes the kindest act is just listening.
Listening to those you love.

And that is a treasure.

Lovemore,
Jamie

18 Aug

Kind.

I’m reflecting on kindness this week… so on this 4-letter word Friday I’m going with easy!
I like easy. Life should be easy. Fridays should be easy. Weekends should be easy.

So this one is all about KIND, being KIND, and easy!
Here’s a little cheers to Friday.

Cheers. Clink! Clink!
