JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 226 :: bloom beauty bloom!

14 Aug

{trust}

It’s the height of summer and the flowers are still in bloom. The little rose bush outside my window still looks at me every morning with pink blooms. And I notice it. Mostly because it’s bright pink but also because it stands out against a green backdrop.

It’s a good lesson in being different and uniquely beautiful. Sometimes the most beautiful things are the ones that aren’t afraid to stand out.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 124 :: trust your beautiful mess

6 May

{trust}

Life is messy. That I know is true. But I also know that the mess you create is really the art of your life.

It’s a lost art in the time and age of perfect social media lives, where we share only the beauty shots, the cropped and filtered view of our daily existence. Part of me wishes we would all share our beautiful mess as well as our filtered and curated perfect moments.

Life is messy. So trust your beautiful mess, and keep making more of it. Life awaits.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 187 :: farmers market beauty

29 Jul

The best kind of kindness.

I find shopping at the Farmers Market so very kind. It’s outside, the sun is usually shining, it’s summer. It is swathed in beauty. Even in another state, another city, another market… the beauty of nature abounds.

It is the kindest way I know to shop. Add to that good friends, a super sweet cinnamon roll… not to mention a flower that is bigger than your head…

And it makes for a pretty special day.

Full of food and fun.

Tonight I board the train again headed toward the coast. But I will not forget the KINDNESS that comes from visiting lifelong friends, eating really good food, listening to inspiring music and picking up right where we left off twenty years ago in college.

Friendship is indeed the language of kindness.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

Jamie’s BLOG – DAY 195 :: even superman needs a parking spot

12 Jul

I’m on the lookout for beautiful things these days. And I found something pretty beautiful today, quite unexpected: a parking spot.

For Superman!

There were actually spots for Spiderman and Captain America and all their superhero friends too outside the KidsZone area of my gym.

I couldn’t help but think it was brilliant and beautiful in its own way. They know their customers well, even the littlest of ones who look up to Batman and The Hulk and Spidey.

And I think it’s a good lesson in peak performance — knowing how to turn something as ordinary as a parking spot into something meaningful and extraordinary.

Beauty is everywhere.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

{see something extra-ordinary?}

Jamie’s BLOG – DAY 185 :: a bird in hand…

2 Jul

Here it is! One of the implants that will soon be mine.

Those little dots on the bottom mark the “bottom” – ironically. The implant is teardrop-shaped, think more of a slope and less of a big round circle. And those two dots mark where the bottom sits, lines up, and needs to stay in place.

It’s hard to believe this will soon be in my body since the process has gone by so fast (relatively). And yet, I am so overcome with awe by science.

Blind me with science!

It’s amazing what we can do these days (and when I say “we” I mean you — doctors, scientists, inventors, people who make this possible).

It’s really quite astounding… and beautiful.

Plus, you know what they say… a breast in the hand… or was that a bird?

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

{what are you in awe of?}

Jamie’s BLOG – DAY 174 :: taking in something beautiful and wondering how it got there

22 Jun

What did the chicken do when it saw a heart in the road?

Well it wasn’t a chicken…. it was me. And you probably already know what I did… I stopped and took a photo. It was a perfect heart in the gravel. As if the rains of time washed away the concrete to reveal a heart below.

Or maybe someone carved it.

Either way it made me stop and pause. And that’s significant in so many ways. Stopping. Pausing. Seeing.

Taking in something beautiful and wondering how it got there.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

{what did you see today?}

Jamie’s BLOG – DAY 164 :: beary, beary, beautiful

12 Jun

In search of beauty, I stumbled upon this little bear yesterday. It was outside the Thai restaurant where we ordered dinner.

Apparently these cute little things go on auction at the end of this festival of bears. It’s a fundraiser of sorts but it certainly adds beauty to the streets around town.

It’s a brilliant use of art to raise local money and spirits. That just may be another way to look at peak performance.

And it’s beary, beary cute.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

{what is beautiful to you?}

Jamie’s BLOG – DAY 159 :: beauty quest

8 Jun

Today I decided to go look for beauty. It’s a bit like a walk in the park I suppose. I wasn’t sure what I would find but I knew it would be an adventure. So I begged Justin to come along and off we went.

Random Adventure + Beauty Mission = Beauty Quest.

Here’s what happened on my first Beauty Quest (more than I could have imagined!).

We found flowers…

And trees….

And the inside of trees…

And red roses….

And ducks kissing…

And baby geese learning to ruffle their feathers…

An ugly duckling that didn’t fit in… (But we know the end of that story!)

And a kind soul who gave us some bread so we could feed the birds too!

It was beautiful. A surprise. And a really quick, fast, easy way to add beauty to the end of the weekend.

Beauty Quest it.
I highly recommend it.

(Sometimes free is the best kind of fun.)

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

{what quest are you on?}

Jamie’s BLOG – DAY 110 :: two beautiful words

21 Apr

Tonight, all I can say are two beautiful words: THANK YOU.

So many beautiful cards. Over 30 stacked up on my turquoise chest. Mostly orchestrated by the Davis Family… and some really special friends too.

It doesn’t show the incredible acts of kindness I have received from friends in the form of emails, books, notes, gifts, hearts, a video ….and a gift certificate for a NEW bra. (Who knows what size it will be?!)

As I go into the week ahead all I have to say is thank you.

Let me say that again.
Thank you.
Beautiful. Words.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

{what two words do you love today?}

2014 BLOG – DAY 105 :: beautiful blueberries

16 Apr

In my year of peak performance I am searching for beauty. And today, I found blueberries!

We planted this little bush last year and it died. It crumpled up and died. We thought.

This spring it came back. And it bloomed. And now we have blueberries.

Little, tiny blueberries. They aren’t “blue” yet but they are blooming blueberries.

And I think they are beautiful.
And that’s my beauty spot of the day.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
