JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 172 :: the berries are coming

26 Jun

Day 172: Sweet.

The berries are coming! The berries are coming!
The blooms are turning, the fruit is ripening. The blackberries are almost here. And I imagine they are loving the sunshine just as much as I am.

Because I too am red… a little burnt.  But loving every moment in the summer sun.

Red. White and blueberry, blackberry, raspberry. Whatever berry is sweetest.
Yoga done. Weekend over.
Summer is here.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 257 :: spontaneous wild blackberries

14 Sep

Today we hopped in the car, in the middle of 103-degree heat, and headed for the river. On a spontaneous blackberry hunt.

Let me just say this:  THERE. WILL. BE. JAM.
Sweet spontaneity!

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

Jamie’s BLOG – DAY 175 :: into the wild

23 Jun

Oregon is wild. Wild things grow here. Including these blackberries that I picked yesterday.

They were sour. Not quite ripe, even the dark juicy ones. They need a little more time in the wild.

Ironically, last night, we watched Into The Wild. It’s one of the movies on our Summer Movie List. (If you are counting we’ve made it through two so far!)

As I watched, I thought the movie was so sad. It broke my heart in a way. But this morning I woke up with a new perspective. The kind of perspective that only a great movie can give.

It stays with you. The story, the characters, the deeper meaning of it all.

I couldn’t help but realize that this sad movie was quite beautiful in its own way — and not in just the rugged, majestic scenery cinematography way.

It was a coming of age, a finding your way, a life lived sort of beauty unfolding. Much like the wild blackberries that all ripen at a different rate and speed. Each one turns blossom into berry when it’s ready and no sooner.

I suppose, that, may just be the epitome of peak performance and sweetness.

And a little bit of beauty too.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
