JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 361 :: looking ahead at stretch goals

28 Dec

Today’s bliss…a glimpse of the future.

Tonight I stretched. It wasn’t just a few yoga moves here and there, but a real stretch goal for the coming year.

I usually wait until New Years Day to announce my next promise. But this time, I’m getting a head start. Partly to rev myself up and also to (selfishly) invite you to join me! It’s always more fun when there’s more than one.

So that said. Here’s the promise:
To do yoga every single day for 365 days.

What? Yes. Yoga. Every. Single. Day.
It’s not a crazy promise. It’s not out of line, out of question, out of the realm of reality. But I am out of shape. And it’s time that this body that has survived (beautifully I might add) many surgeries takes on a STRETCH goal.

You see, things are getting tight in the muscular department and a little too soft in some other departments. So it’s time to TAKE ACTION.

Because I believe in writing down goals and I believe in taking action every single day on what is most important I am making this promise. Sometimes the TO DO list is way too long to get anything TA DONE. But I know if I focus on what is most important, it happens, one way or another.

So for 2016, I am focused on loving more and doing more… starting with my physical shape. But I know it will lead to a much bigger, deeper, impactful promise — because it always does.

So…. who wants to join me??!!!

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 360 :: wrapping up

27 Dec

Today’s bliss…a story for the ages.

Christmas already seems like a week ago. But today was another sort of gift we wrapped up – our official Star Wars movie day.

Just like being a child again, with big eyes watching a big screen, this movie seemed to be the grand finale of the holiday. Much like a family gathering, the movie met us with both new characters and old acquaintances to remember all over again.

And that has me thinking about Stories. The beginning, middle and end that wrap us all together. The stories of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and the hopes for Christmas future. Echoing with the time that we did this, that, and do you remember when? Memories in the making. Ones that speed by way too fast.

Just like the great Story that we saw play out on the big screen today. There were no lulls, no sticking points, no weird plot lines, just pure anticipation, reaction, and glimpses of what might come next but not wanting to get there too soon. Otherwise known as being Present.

Maybe the best gift of all.

Speaking of being Present, I’m trying to remain focused on the Bliss of this year. But I know all too well a New Year is to arrive all too soon. So, tomorrow, I will share my new Promise. Maybe you too will want to come along too?

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 352 :: bliss of the heart

22 Dec

Today’s bliss…a real photo.

Sent to me tonight: a heart! In the rain! In the garage!

I love this photo, not because the rain drops created a heart. And not because the heart is almost practically perfectly shaped (seriously!).

I love it because Jaynane sent this photo my way, knowing I would love it. And being thought of and remembered is always a matter of the heart.

Heart. Bliss.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 351 :: bliss-more-light

21 Dec

Today’s bliss…the light is coming.

It’s the longest night of the year. Or the shortest day. Depending on how you look at it. And I guess that’s what bliss boils down to… it’s all in how you look at it.

Happy Solstice.
Here’s to more light. Longer days. And a New Year on its way!

More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 350 :: blissfully scrabbled

20 Dec

Today’s bliss…words and letters.

We just finished out the weekend with a grand finale of Scrabble.
Ah, Words. The only thing I love more is games. Ah, Games.

And that makes me think of Christmas.
Here’s to the season!  And if you need some Scrabble gift ideas, go here.
Have a happy week, and a merry holiday!

More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 347 :: may the force be with you

17 Dec

Today’s bliss…no wars.

On this night of the official debut of Star Wars The Return Of A Childhood Phenomenum, I am reminded that the best blissful wishful thinking of all would be no wars at all.

Here’s to peace on earth. May bliss be with you.

(And…don’t tell me what happened in the movie because I haven’t seen it yet.)

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 344 :: bliss-fa la la la la

14 Dec

Today’s bliss…music.

As I sit here tonight working and listening to The Voice and waiting for Adele I am struck by the simple truth of music. It moves. It is magic.

And it’s something I don’t really do…all that well. I mean, of course I have some shining moments in the shower or driving in my car – in private – who doesn’t? But I am SO in awe of those who can sing, really sing. It’s amazing to me, the good vibrations with just a few vocal chords.

And it seems not so ironic that it’s that time of year. When people sing out loud. Carol door to door. Sing a happy tune.  And share a vibe of bliss.

‘Tis the season.
For the most wonderful sound of year.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 343 :: the game of bliss

13 Dec

Today’s bliss…flying.

As in time.
Time flies when you’re having fun. Something I am learning as I pay more attention to bliss. Time flies when you are in bliss too.

So today, I thought it ironic while playing the game of LIFE with my little nieces.

The game of course is really an APP. All electronic, fast-paced digital eye candy. There were no cards to draw or little people to place inside cars. It was a LIFE adventure that played out before your eyes on a screen.

How time flies. And how I could almost smell the mildew on my own board game of LIFE that I played as a child — (mostly because we left it out in the rain or some sort of soggy place). And how the world turns.

And so did this digital game of LIFE. Weddings. Babies. School. Homes. Jobs. Losing Jobs. Taxes owed. Wedding Gifts. Twins! Baby gifts. New Career. Twins again! And then before you know it, Retirement.

That’s how you “win” the game of LIFE. Retirement.

And it left a sour taste in my mouth. Just the word alone makes me cringe. As if you are supposed get all TIRED out. Or roll over and play dead until you actually do expire. Well, maybe we all do have an expiration date stamped somewhere on our foreheads. Invisible it is, which is maybe the best part of LIFE. The not knowing when our expiration date will arrive.

Which brings me to this. It’s the one year anniversary of my Aunt Denita’s exit date, or expiration, or whatever we call the passing on into the ether and divine. As I sit here tonight thinking about the game of LIFE all I can think is that Time Flies.

Even more reason to enjoy taking a spin, on the risky track or the safe track, or whatever track floats your boat (that you mortgage) but keep spinning I say. Don’t tire out before the expiration date arrives. because really, if there is anything I have learned in this Year of Bliss it is this:

Life is a game.
We call the shots.
So why not choose bliss?

More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie
