JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 181 :: cards of joy

30 Jun

Tonight we played Canasta with two little girls, who really aren’t that little anymore. They are card sharks actually. Smart, fast, and strategic. It’s amazing to me that they just began playing this game a year ago and now they have a lifetime of experience under their belts. Or in their hands.

Their minds are rubber, malleable, constantly learning in leaps and bounds. And isn’t that the goal, to stay hungry and keep learning, stretching our brains and our minds into new worlds?

What joy.
May we all get through life with a full deck.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS DAY 129 ::4-letter word friday

13 May

There is something very powerful about cards – as in Canasta. Only because of this: family. Whatever it is that brings family together is special. Tonight, it happened to be cards. Tomorrow, it might be something else.

Whatever it is, it is special.
So…. thank you cards.
Happy Friday.

More tomorrow….

For me, of course, it will come as no surprise that I experienced love at first sight. And some of you lucky peeps will get one of these in the mail from me this year.

But I have a few other cards up my sleeve too… so watch your mailbox!
Until then…. please check out The Card Crusade and help us spread some cheer this year.

You could win a FREE year’s worth of greeting cards from Green Ink Gallery!

BLOG – GIFT DAY 223 :: another inspiring walk

13 Aug

I found myself lost in Chicagoland again today. Lost in thought really.

This city is so beautiful and inspiring. So tonight, I share with you my walk. I hope it gives you a little something… maybe inspiration, maybe just some color, shape or form.

My Card Crusade continues, and I have had the JOY of sharing cards with some amazing women in Chicago this week. They are part of team Bottle & Bottega and they couldn’t be more smart, dynamic, fun or motivated: Nancy, Stephanie, Char and Traci.

Ironically, speaking of people I love working with, the best stop of my walk today was finding some Green Ink Greeting Cards on the shelf of a local bookstore.

All of this made me think…. what role does art play in our lives? What role does it play in yours?

More tomorrow.

BLOG – GIFT DAY 197 :: how are you sharing your gifts?

16 Jul
Today, I continue my CARD CRUSADE.
My little way of saying thank you and spreading some abundance.

And, I have the best news ever!I have received the most beautiful gift. Julia McLemore of Green Ink Gallery has given enough cards to see me through this CARD CRUSADE.That means I have enough cards to send out to those I love and adore (and those who inspire me!) between now and my surgery on August 22nd.It also means that I am thrilled to be bestowed with the honor of sharing Julia’s fine art.Green Ink Cards are not just cards, they are fine art (seriously, you can frame and place right on the wall), and, the best part of all — they are from REAL flowers.

Julia is a trained artist and her work is simple stunning. You can check out the full collection of Green Ink Gallery images here to see what I mean.

The best part — I feel like it’s my birthday!

While Julia is sharing these cards because she was inspired by my Card Crusade idea, I am truly the lucky one who gets to share her gift with the world.

And, isn’t that how it should be?

What if we all gave a big “shout out” to the world about somebody else’s gift, talent, project, purpose, idea?

What if we all passed it on… one more time… to one more person?

And that brings me to this powerful question:
What if we all shared our gifts?

And that brings me to this even more powerful question:
What if we all shared someone else’s gift too?

More tomorrow.

P.S. — Yesterday’s card went to the only person who has visited us in every place we have lived — Martha’s Vineyard, Florida, Vermont, Scituate — Miss Karen Pearson!! We love you Karen… and it looks like you need to come to Oregon to keep this streak alive!
Today’s card was mailed to Massachusetts…

…to someone who loves watermelon martinis
…and the Patriots
…and her children
…and shoppingCan you guess?

{who can you give a shout out to?}
