JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 205 :: vintage

31 Jul

Day 205: priceless.

Life is pretty special when you get to spend it with those you love. And birthdays are even more special when you get to spend them with those you love too.

Today we celebrated Jaynane and Colin, two birthdays in one week but a lifetime in the making. Before I do my yoga, as I sit atop an air mattress writing this post surrounded by a house full of sleeping kids, adults, and adults who act like kids (or is it the other way around?) I’m reflecting on what it takes to be a vintage classic.

Vintage is old, sure, but it’s so much more than that.
Vintage is aged but wise.
Vintage is better with age, really. Aged to perfection you might say.
Vintage is priceless, powerful and precious.
It’s pretty darn good. Precisely.
And one might say, that’s pretty fabulous.

We think Jaynane is fabulous too, and at 70 and every year, month, week and day leading up to this moment in time, she proves that life can get more beautiful and bountiful with age.

She is so vintage.
Aged to perfection, and it only gets better from here.
Because the celebration continues tomorrow…

Here’s to tomorrow.
A vintage classic in the making.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 295 :: hitting the road

24 Oct
It’s Friday! And that means we are hitting the road soon for a weekend celebration.

Mainly to celebrate Justin (who didn’t get a proper 40th birthday celebration because of my mastectomy). We are off to the Bridge School concert, something that is on Justin’s bucket list. Plus, if you haven’t already guessed, Pearl Jam will be playing. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Justin!

Here’s the lineup:

  • Neil Young
  • Pearl Jam
  • Florence + The Machine
  • Brian Wilson
  • Tom Jones
  • Soundgarden
  • Norah Jones and Puss N Boots
  • Band of Horses
  • Pegi Young & The Survivors

Who will you celebrate this weekend?

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

 {who can you celebrate?}

Jamie’s BLOG – DAY 155 :: portland more than half full

4 Jun

Tonight I’m feeling full. We celebrated Portland and a big congrats to Joni and Drew for opening their Bottle & Bottega Portland studio!

We drank, ate, painted and raised money for a worthy charity, ACAP.

Of course I prefer to always see the bottle half full but tonight was certainly a full on celebration. Like being on top of a mountain you might say. Maybe even a Mt. Hood.

Welcome PDX! Congrats! Cheers! Clink! Click!

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

{congrats portland!}

2014 BLOG – DAY 84 :: happy birthday, GLORIA!

25 Mar

Today is an amazing day. Gloria Steinem turns eighty. All I can say is wow – I hope I look this good at 80!

Of course, what I really mean to say is what an amazing life. What an amazing woman. What an amazing leader, visionary, do-er and dreamer.

While I can’t get the song Gloria out of my mind, I also can’t help but wonder if she knows how many lives she has touched over 80 years.

Here’s to you, Gloria. Thank you for the wisdom and inspiration.
Happy Birthday.

Singing Gloria!
Gloria!
Glora!

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

Day 2: celebrating the past 365 days

2 Jan

Here we are in Woodinville, Washington at the beautiful Willows Lodge.

I waited 365 days for this, to relax and unwind and celebrate my promise of 2011.
It’s my holiday spa-la-la-la if you will.

The lodge is located within a stone’s throw to numerous wineries (Chateau St. Michelle, Columbia, etc) and comes complete with spa services and yummy restaurants (The Barking Frog, Herbfarm and Redhook Brewery), plus, to top it all off, our room is scrumptious.

The showers have digital hot temperature sets and the hotel is so pet-friendly they even offer a doggy turn-down service.  (But we won’t tell Pup since we left him at home.)

My favorite, is the over-sized bathtub that looks into the bedroom with cozy fireplace. The tub is built at the perfect angle so you can watch TV while submerged in bubbles.

It works.
Believe me.
I tested it out.

I share all this only to prove one point — the importance of celebration.

I have a few celebrations lined up to reward myself for this past year of taking care of my head, heart, body and soul.

  • A few days at this special spa with my honey, Justin, whose support was unwavering this past year.
  • And then, of course, a personal-stylist-consulting-shopping-extravaganza with the one and only Holly Getty.

I promise to take you along for the ride.

But, tonight, I promised to share the rules for Year 2 of The Promise 365 (plus one leap year day of course, but who’s counting).

As I wrote yesterday, I am dedicating this year to LOVE.  That’s right, that four-letter word that runs the world.

The reason I am doing this is much deeper than just some lovey-dovey idealistic notion.  It’s actually pretty scary.

You see, over this past year I learned something simply profound:  there are only two forces in this world:

One is love.
The other, fear.

And, it got me thinking.  A lot.
What would it take for me to get over my fears?  Is it just a matter of love?  Could it really be that simple?

Well… this year we are going to find out.
So that’s it — over the next 365 days I have to face my fears.  Believe me, I have some fears that are everything from friendly (large crowds) to fierce (spiders). It scares me to death, but I know it will be worth it.

Oh, yeah, and write every single day.  As if that isn’t scary enough.

More tomorrow.
Until then, I hope you find some time to celebrate your past 365 days.
I will be over here floating from my facial.

Day 173: pop quiz! a cause for celebration

22 Jun

Today ends with a few things to celebrate around here:

1)  I spent the afternoon in Starbucks and DID NOT order a Mocha!

2)  Two of our favorite people in this world sold their house on different coasts on the same day! (and not to each other)

3)  The best news of all, the Pup Report came back with no new news ~ which is good news!

All cause for celebration if you ask me.

Looks like our little guy will spend the next few weeks on bed rest in order to hopefully heal up and get well soon.

Our little Pup’s condition had me thinking hard over the last few days about how much good health is something to celebrate, nourish, and protect.

So here’s to your good health.

And here’s your Pop Quiz:
How do you want to celebrate your good health?
What do you want to keep doing?
What do you want to stop doing?
What do you want to add in?

I hope you have a moment to ponder this too.
I’ll share my own answers tomorrow.

Until then….
xo~Jamie
