Jamie’s Blog – Year 9:: what you need – 14 days to go

17 Dec

There are 14 days left of The Promise 365!

“You already have what you need.” My dear teacher and mentor and medicine woman taught me this many years ago. It was in the middle of surgeries and doctors appointments and all the anxiety that comes with that sort of thing. She was always so wise and so ahead of me in the lessons of life. She also told me that was why she could be my teacher, she would always be a step ahead of me. Until she wasn’t.

Today, I took the day off and mostly addressed Christmas cards. It was a rainy, sleety, snowy sort of day and the perfect hot cocoa Christmas card backdrop. I love paper and cards, and I love addressing them and using my calligraphy markers to make pretty little letters. So while I was looking up addresses and writing out beautiful little letters I was taken aback when I saw her mailing address next on my list.

This will be the last year of The Promise 365 and it will be the first year I won’t be able to send my teacher a Christmas greeting. She is now gone, and I am now on my own two feet when it comes to life lessons. She is no longer a step ahead of me, rather she is somewhere else in the heavens and the stars. Luckily, she left me with that precious gift.

“You already have what you need.” I can hear her say to me again as if she were right next to my side.

Indeed, I do. Mostly because of all the great teachers who have always been one step ahead of me.
Trust me!

BLOG – GIFT DAY 351 :: a week till christmas eve

17 Dec

The year is winding down and the holidays are gearing up!

And today I wrote my first of three Card Crusade cards.

Since I sent so many cards this summer I have been thinking very deeply about who will be my “three” people to thank this holiday.

And, after much head throbbing I finally figured it out!

I will send cards to people who I feel have:

  • inspired me
  • helped me
  • believed in me

That is my criteria. And believe me it’s HARD to whittle it down to just three, but I want to make sure my three receive super-meaningful cards and the proper thanks for all they have done for me.

The interesting thing is this:  it has bled over to my regular holiday cards.

Just being mindful about how three people have impacted my life has made me more thoughtful to each person I send a holiday greeting.

It’s powerful, this gratitude thing.
So today, my gift is a card. A very thoughtful, heartfelt, deeply thankful one.

More tomorrow.

BLOG – GIFT DAY 318 a month of inspiration :: how to spread cheer

14 Nov

Today, in my month-long nod to inspiration, I share a crusade.
And I am so inspired to tell you about it!

True Confession: I am listening to holiday music right now on the Michael Buble Holiday Radio Station. I love the holidays!  The music. The lights. The good moods. The kindness. And the gifts of course too…

But this year, as I explore abundance, I have come to realize that sometimes a gift is just as tiny as a kind word. As easy as a thoughtful moment. Just a little love wrapped in a sentence can be more powerful than a pretty wrapped box.

So… here we go!
I am so incredibly excited to share with you The Card Crusade.  We officially, officially launch next week, but I want to invite the people I adore to check it out first.

And that includes you!

The original card crusade started this summer when I was facing surgery and the removal of my bulging oversized thyroid. Now that I have a benign diagnosis (and a new lease on life too!) I have partnered with Green Ink Gallery to challenge, inspire, and hopefully motivate others to do something notable.

What is The Card Crusade you ask?
Here’s the deal: you make a pledge to send 3 heartfelt cards to people in your life and tell them what they mean to you or how they have impacted your life.

Because saying thank you or sharing a meaningful note of gratitude can change a life. I know it changed mine!

It’s that easy. But it’s more powerful than you can imagine.

I hope you will join us.
No, actually, I AM TOTALLY EXCITED for you to join us!!
So please go here now: www.thecardcrusade.com

Do. Something. Notable.

More tomorrow.
