JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 202 :: mothers and daughters

28 Jul

Day 202: Birthday Part Deux.

I’m thinking about mothers and daughters tonight. It’s been all over the news and the internet is abuzz. A woman is nominated by a major political party for a presidential race for the first time in our country. It’s a watershed moment. One that will be reviewed in the history books for generations to come.

And yet, as a daughter, the mother I’m thinking about is my own.
Today would have been Mama Sling’s birthday, if she were here.

It’s always a watershed moment in my life, remembering my mother on the day she was born. Her July birthday being in the middle of summer, but the sunshine she shone was throughout the entire year and her entire life. Much of that light she shone on me, always telling me that I could do anything. There were no limits. And it all seemed possible with her love.

So, here’s to all the mothers. The ones that show us the way. The ones that remain with us even when they are gone. And the ones that teach us that we can do, or be, anything.

Happy Birthday, Mama Sling.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
