JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 222 joy is feng shui

10 Aug

Last night was spa night…. tonight is feng shui night. My friend Amy flew up to Boston just to help me measure, feng shui, and plan furnishings for our new little townhouse. I love the concept of feng shui:

As Google says:  (in Chinese thought) a system of laws considered to govern spatial arrangement and orientation in relation to the flow of energy (qi), and whose favorable or unfavorable effects are taken into account when siting and designing buildings.

I find it very joyful to plan and measure before furnishing and placing. But Amy is taking it to the next level, measuring every inch and creating a to-scale map. I’m more than impressed. I would have just walked off the space with my size ten feet and left the rest to chance. She is measuring and calculating and drawing a scale map. She’s precise and passionate about it.

There is joy in that.

And there is joy in this: Everything has a place and there is a place for everything.
With purpose, passion and intention.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 214 :: joy is no furniture

1 Aug
{for now}

I’m living in a furniture-less townhouse right now, and I have to say, I love it. It feels expansive, clean and wide open. It has me thinking about that which I need and that which I do not. It has me thinking about space and what it is that we fill it with (and why) and how that brings joy.

It also has me thinking about what really matters, what it is that we fill on the outside to fill up on the inside.

Sometimes joy is appreciating the less so that you can love the more.

BLOG – GIFT DAY 237 starting over :: decor

27 Aug

As you know, I’m starting over.
But it feels like more of a celebration than a struggle. The surgery is over! The move to the west coast is complete!
So, now, we need to decorate.

Jaynane to the rescue.

Not only has Jaynane arrived by my side to help with post-surgery recovery, she has already delivered new furniture, sewed new curtains, and painted amazing amounts of furniture.

All I’ve been allowed to do by Justin and his mother has been kick up my feet and sip some wine. I’m not allowed to lift heavy objects or drive a vehicle or cook or do laundry. Doctor’s orders.

It won’t last for long, but it’s not a bad gig if you ask me.

As the decor transformation takes place over here I will post photos later this week.

Until then, I share a total makeover series with you from House Beautiful.
It’s totally worth checking out this day in the life of a surprise makeover.

My transformation has felt a little bit like this one below, featured on House Beautiful.

Swift. Quick.
And all done in one week!

More tomorrow.
Lovemore {fearless}

{what could you transform in one week?}
