JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 214 :: joy is no furniture

1 Aug
{for now}

I’m living in a furniture-less townhouse right now, and I have to say, I love it. It feels expansive, clean and wide open. It has me thinking about that which I need and that which I do not. It has me thinking about space and what it is that we fill it with (and why) and how that brings joy.

It also has me thinking about what really matters, what it is that we fill on the outside to fill up on the inside.

Sometimes joy is appreciating the less so that you can love the more.

More tomorrow…

2014 BLOG – DAY 52 a perfect weekend: wine a little

21 Feb

Happy weekend!
It seems appropriate to share this link today …weekend projects on the verge of popping up around here.

Here’s to a million and one things to do with a wine crate. Okay, well, maybe 10 ways to reinvent a wine crate from Houzz.

What do you have planned for the weekend?

More tomorrow.

BLOG – GIFT DAY 314 – a month of inspiration :: design love

10 Nov

Today, in my month-long nod to inspiration, I share design. And fonts.
Because I love fonts.

As I sat down to write tonight I stopped and wondered. Why do I love fonts so much…. and really, what is the root of this inspiration thing anyway? I know it when I feel it (like finding a fabulous new font!) but I can’t quite describe it.

So I looked it up.

After reading the definition of “Inspiration” I felt an overwhelming “duh” coming on. Here’s the exact definition for you to ponder:

1. the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, esp. to do something creative.

2. the drawing in of breath; inhalation.

Inspiration lights us up, somewhere in the heart and the brain. Scientists have now actually pinpointed a specific area of the brain “lights up” when the Aha moment arrives.

Or, when I find a new font. So tonight I share a little inspiration for your holiday font needs. Thanks to Lia Griffith and her favorite free script fonts for the holidays.

If that’s not lighting up a lobe in your brain, check out 100 Great Resources for Design Inspiration.

Better yet, just ask yourself: what inspires me? What does it feel like when I am totally and completely inspired?

While you think about that one I’ll be salivating over Alex Brush, Marcelle Script and Maratre.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore {playmore!}

{what inspires your aha moments?}
