JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 69 :: believing is the power to dream

11 Mar

We dreamt out loud tonight. All about what we would do if we won the lottery, like a really big life-changing lottery.

It was a fun exercising in dreaming and trusting in your heart’s core dream. It’s funny what comes out when you dream out loud when you trust your heart and what you want the most. We dreamt up houses and innovative ideas and amazing vacations and they all shared a single thread. They were all shared with family.

Who knows if we will ever win the lottery. But it’s good to know we agree on where the money should go. It all makes me think that believing is the power to dream, and dreaming is the power to believe.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 96 :: whispering joy

5 Apr
{listening joy}

I can feel joy whispering in my ears these days. This is what happens when I approach the 100+ day mark. I start to feel the power of my promise pulse in my veins. But its very small… almost like a whisper.

Which brings me to this: listening.

Listening to our joys might be even more important than experiencing joy.
Listen to the whispers in your ear.
Listen to the joy that wants to carry you forward.

They are the sound of your dreams brewing and blooming.

It’s almost march. MARCH? And joy has me realizing one thing… we have to en-joy the process. Otherwise, time just flies by. Enjoy your process… whatever it may be:

  • letting in love
  • getting over grieving
  • releasing anger
  • finding your truth
  • doing your job

More tomorrow…

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 110 :: kindly dreaming

23 Apr

I spent yesterday afternoon dreaming about fashion, fabric, cut and color. Mostly as an Assistant to our little niece. She was the brainchild behind these fashion visions:

I was her loyal assistant. And, I have to say, in the name of kindness, sometimes the most KIND thing to do is to help someone else flourish — or at least dream.

May you flourish this week.
And dream.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 14 :: kindness in football

14 Jan

We started our day by watching The Brady Six. It’s an ESPN documentary that tells the story of how Tom Brady went from the 199th pick in the NFL to be the best of the best (even better than all those other draft picks ahead of him).

It also tells the story of grit, determination, and heart.
It also makes us cry. Every time we watch it.

So tonight, while watching the Patriots game (nail biter) I had to ask myself. Is there kindness in football?

“There’s no kindness in football!” I heard my head say. There is hitting and smashing and strategic annihilation. But kindness?

Could there possibly be kindness in football? I mean, other than the PSA commercials that happen in between major sponsored ads showcasing large men in tights doing nice things for the community, like reading books to children. But really, that’s after the fact. Inside the game of football is there any ounce of kindness?

Could there be kindness on the field? While helmets smash and bodies go flying about the end zone and into the injury zone? No. Definitely not.

What about in the stands? The locker room? The parking lot? The living rooms around the world tuning into the game. Ehhhhh….

But then I thought back to the tear-jerking Brady Six documentary…. and all the heart and soul of all of those little boys and high school stars and college players and NFL hopefuls. There must be kindness there?

And then I realized…. there IS kindness in football. It’s found inside the fabric of a dream. In little kid dreams. In their preparation and training. In their parents carting them around to countless practices and tournaments so that they may continue living out their dream for as long as it lasts.

And that’s what the Brady Six is really all about. Our dreams. For ourselves. For our children. For the underdog, doggedly preparing every single day every when no one is looking. When no one believes in them. When nobody else thinks they can do it. Except they know, somewhere inside themselves that … they can.

There is kindness in that type of dream. No matter what team you love or root for or follow or play for, there is kindness in winning because it is the culmination of our collective dream to keep DREAMING alive.

What could be kinder than that?
(Minus all the injuries of course!)

More tomorrow.

Day 170: pinch me, I’m dreaming

19 Jun

I had a dream last night.

For some reason I was on my way to a basketball tournament.  I was teaming up with friends from high school to play in a tournament when I realized I didn’t have my shoes with me.  Not just any shoes.  My basketball shoes, the specific high tops I needed to play ball.

I didn’t have the right shoes!
Even worse I was wearing the silliest shoes possible for a basketball game, strappy sandals.

For a moment I just shrugged my shoulders and announced I wasn’t worried.  I would just buy a pair of new basketball shoes on my way to the game.

But them I stopped in my tracks.
Wait a minute!

I can’t buy anything this year because of The Promise 365.
What am I going to do???!!!!  The dream version of myself shrieked.

In the middle of agonizing over not having the right shoes, a friend walking next to me pointed out the bag on my shoulder and instructed me to look inside it.

The bag just appeared out of nowhere.

There wasn’t a bag in my dream at any moment before this one.  But my dear friend spotted this bag.  On my shoulder.  As if it had been there the whole time.

And guess what was inside?
My basketball shoes.

I have been pondering this dream all day.

Tonight, I finally came to terms with the fact that I don’t know what it means.  There is probably someone somewhere deep inside of me that understands it more than I ever will.

But, I will say this…
I’m not surprised that in my dream I had the perfect shoes at the exact moment I needed and not a moment before.

I’m starting to believe that life just seems to go this way when I take good care of my head and my heart, my body & my soul.

People, like bags, just appear in my life with exactly what I need in the moment I need it.  And, just like a pair of basketball shoes, things seem to magically be within my reach even when I don’t know where to look or how to find them.

It’s a pretty cool thing.
And I’m pretty sure it’s not just a dream.
