JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 110 :: trust in mother nature

20 Apr

The world is pink, if only for a moment. Spring blossoms have taken over the trees and it just makes me happy. Maybe it’s because they are pink? Maybe it is because it is finally warmer outside? Maybe it is because the promise of summer is just around the corner…

Or maybe it is because it is a reminder to trust Mother Nature. As Earth Day approaches I couldn’t think of a more beautiful way to celebrate our planet than to capture her beauty. And that is what makes me happy.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 108 :: plank, plank it up!

21 Apr
It’s officially official. We have reached 30 seconds in the Plank Challenge. Some nights I think I can do more and hold it for ten minutes, other nights I’m ready to cave as ten seconds tick away.
I suppose that is the way of the modern world. Feeling like Superwoman one second, and then a total mess the next.

Maybe I wouldn’t appreciate the plank so much if I didn’t have a little struggle to hold it so tight? I suppose balance brings perspective.

Are you planking with us? Let me know how it’s going for you…
I hear it does a body good.

In other news…. Happy Earth Day. This is (apparently) the animal I am according to Google’s little logo game:

You’re a woolly mammoth!

So unique, you’re technically extinct, but on the bright side scientists hope to be able to clone you some day!

Here’s to being unique.

More tomorrow.

  {what is your latest challenge?}

BLOG – GIFT DAY 112 :: 21-day spring clean: beauty uncovered

22 Apr

Happy Earth Day.

Today we celebrate all that is natural.

Back in Year One of The Promise 365, I did my style points with Holly Getty. One of those special, magical words that popped up in my session with Holly was the phrase NATURALLY GLAMOROUS.

It’s a phase that helps describe how I want to present myself to the world in my ideal world!

So today, on Day 5 of our Spring Clean, I am digging up some natural inspiration.

To begin, here’s a few good tips about healthy and natural makeup from IIN: 27 Healthy and Natural Makeup Products

Spring Clean Day 5 Tip: Baking Soda
Who says you have to go to a fancy spa to get a fabulous facial?
According to LIVESTRONG you can create a Homemade Baking Soda Mask.

So, in my quest to SPRING CLEAN, lighten up, and get ready for summer… I’m doing a homemade mask tonight.

Anyone care to join me?

The recipe is at this link: click here

I’ll report back, I promise.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore (fearless),

Day 110: infinite love and gratitude

19 Apr

I love my soul sisters!
Do you know who I am talking about (maybe you are one of them?)

Friends that feel like sisters from the very first moment you meet?

I have many in my life, and plan to hang on to them forever — even when we are old and wear purple clothes and red hats, or something equally obnoxious and empowering.

I spoke with one over the phone today. She taught me a new saying:  infinite love and gratitude. (I LOVE IT!)

Another emailed me tonight.

And, I can’t wait to chat with another this weekend.

One soul sister commented on my blog post last night, another commented this morning.

All of my soul sisters have shown up in my life exactly when I needed them — in person, over the phone, in yoga class, on the street, at work, on Facebook.

They are always “there” even when they cannot be right “here.”

And, all have stayed in my life in meaningful ways, even after we drifted apart in careers, communities and the chaos of holding together a 30-somethings life.

I imagine us growing old together, reflecting on the miles we traveled — laughing all the way (ha ha ha!) — in hindsight of course.

One of my soul sisters is in her seventies. And, I may have learned more from her than I ever would have learned from someone my own age.

There’s a theory about souls — that we make our plans to be together long before we arrive here on this earth.

And, as Earth Day approaches, I have to say, one of the best reasons I can think of to preserve our precious planet is — if for nothing else — to keep this party going.

So we can keep bumping into each other, serendipitously ending up on the same street corner, or spotting each other across the room.

With infinite love and gratitude,
