JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 103 :: easter kindness

16 Apr

Sunshine.

He has risen! And when I say he, I mean the SUN.
It’s been a long winter.

Yet on this Easter Sunday, along with amazing food, family, and some outdoor fun, we had the grace and warmth of the Sun. The flowers were in full bloom too.

And, that may be the best kind of kindness.
Appreciation. Appreciating the everyday miracles around us.
Let the sun shine.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

Using fingernail polish!

Happy Easter!

Jamie’s BLOG – DAY 109 :: happy easter …and… it’s purple!

20 Apr

We had an Easter surprise… the Rhodies bloomed today.
And they are purple!

We’ve been wondering what color these would become and now we know. Ironically, Mama Sling’s favorite color was purple. Or, maybe it’s not ironic…

So that’s my spot of beauty for the day. Here’s to celebrating new things blooming.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

{what is your favorite color of flower?}

GIFT DAY 090: 30-day gratitude challenge: day 14, HOP to it!

31 Mar

Day 14 of the 30-Day Gratitude Challenge over here.

What finds you in AWE today?

  • Is it little girls in pink and green dresses?
  • Little boys hunting for eggs?
  • A warm spring morning?

Today I was awestruck by the scene I awoke to on the beach.

easter morning, the promise daily, jamie eslinger

The dogs woke me up early begging – no whining – to go outside. I rolled over and looked at the time on my iPhone. 6:34AM.

“You’ve GOT to be kidding me.” I groaned.

The dogs kept whining and pacing around the bed. Finally, Pup jumped up on top of me as if to say, “Listen lady, we mean biz.”

I grimaced. I groaned. Then acquiesced.

And I’m so glad I did. I would have missed the sunrise. I would have missed this beautiful picture. I would have rolled over and missed the light.

So, today, I am grateful for:

1) An enlightening sunrise
2) Staying in my PJ’s and reading in bed until 3pm
3) Two pups who never let me sleep in

So….
What are your grateful for?
What floats your boat? Gives you faith? Fans the wind beneath your wings? Lightens your load? Rocks your world? Sounds the alarm, wraps you in joy, sends you hopping?

What puts the AWE in your awesome?

More tomorrow.
Lovemore (fearless),
Jamie

{Hop to it! Share your gratitude in the comments section below.}

Day 111: where did the easter bunny go?

21 Apr

I read something, somewhere today.
The article proclaimed shipments of Easter Bunnies are on the decline.

Hum…
Not sure what that’s all about.
I’m surprised the media hasn’t turned it into an all out Easter Bunny Crisis.

I actually forgot Easter was this Sunday until Justin’s mom reminded me (thank you!).

After Easter there are only a handful of major holidays to buy for, dress for, and celebrate. Which means I am one step closer to getting through this year without purchases and avoiding all the temptations that may arise.

Where has the time gone?
It’s already Day 111.

Taking care of my head, heart, body & soul has sent into some fun and new adventures. With each one I realize there are more I want to try.

So, I signed up for the 21-Day Meditation Challenge.
It’s free, and hails from the Chopra Center, a.k.a. “the sweet spot of the universe” (that’s kind of a bold statement if you ask me).

The program promises:
“Daily support and guidance that will enable you to move beyond any past obstacles and experience the many gifts and benefits of meditation.”

Today Marks Day 8.
I have meditated right along, through the wonders of my computer and internet connection, with something like 100,000 other people for the past eight days.

I have yet to experience the many gifts and wonders it promises, but honestly, it is growing on me.

Today’s meditation used the “age old” neutral words SO and HUM, with the intent that you don’t associate either word with any meaning, therefore you are free to veg out and meditate fully.

Me, being a newbie, and clearly a mind racer, had a hard time not assigning meaning to each word.

With every breathe I had another thought:

SO …Doe, A Deer, A Female Deer
HUM …I wonder what Justin will make for dinner tonight?
SO …did I remember to turn the stove off?
HUM … I have to remember to take the sheets out of the washer!
SO … is this what it feels like to meditate?
HUM … I’m not sure this is working.

And SO on…

Hum …All I know is, it may not be fully working on me …yet.
So, I suppose I have 13 more days to refine my technique.

HUM …that’s more time than the Easter Bunny has!
SO …Happy Easter Weekend.
