JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 42 :: trust and the heart

12 Feb

{trust}

Trust is seeping into my each and every day now… we are in month two of this promise. These promises are like hooks or lines really, that I throw out at the beginning of the year and see what comes in.

Month Two is usually just the warm-up… the beginning of momentum.

So here we are… and this is what Trust is telling me today.

Trust is the work of the heart. You have to feel what you believe… and you have to believe your instincts to trust them. So…. follow your heart.

More tomorrow.
Trust me.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 297 :: follow your heart line

26 Oct
We just left the Bridge School concert and my cup runneth over. Just amazing.

For the photos and videos check out my Facebook page. It’s all there! Band of Horses, Norah Jones, Tom Jones, Soundgarden, Beach Boys, Florence and The Machine, Pearl Jam, Neil Young.  Whew…..

And it was all for the children.

I was overcome by the performances, I was brought to tears by the stories. More than anything I am amazed at the power of the heart when it’s put to good use for a good cause.

As we sat in the crowd I watched all walks of life pass by me. Hipsters, hunks, and hippies. From Silicon Valley’s finest to tattooed teeny boppers I witnessed the power of vibration. Of music. Everyone bounced to the beat of Tom Jones. Tom Jones! Everyone. No matter the walk or talk or level of hipness, everyone cheered. The crowd clapped in unison. Everyone was moved.

And it was all for the children.

When Florence and The Machine took the stage the crowds of grunged out Soundgarden and Pearl Jam fans hollored with approval. The man standing behind me admitted to his friend that he ran to Florence’s music that day because he was so impressed from her performance the night before.

As we sat there in a crowd being moved by the music, inside I was moved by the cause of the concert. The children on stage sat behind the musicians. The cameras followed the children throughout the entire show. The musicians took turns shaking the children’s hands.

It was a concert for the children of The Bridge School. And it was amazing.  More than an incredible collection of peak performances, I am moved by the incredible dream and the power of passion and peak performances. And it all starts with following the heart. As Florence + The Machine said:

Just keep following the heartlines on your hand
Keep it up, I know you can
Just keep following the heartlines on your hand
Cause I am

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

2014 BLOG – DAY 44 :: what does your heart want you to follow?

13 Feb

Happy Valentine’s Day!

It occurs to me that the most special ingredient of peak performance is this:

Following your heart.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore {fearless}

P.S. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Day 315: lovemore monday :: an open letter to the young woman in starbucks

12 Nov

As you know, I entered this year determined to be fearless. But, I don’t want more fear or less in my life.  I want more love.  So I made up a new word, lovemore!   That’s why Lovemore Mondays are here.

Today’s Lovemore Monday is a letter.

In fact, this is an open letter to the young woman sitting next to me at Starbucks tonight.

Dear beautiful, young woman:

I want you to know this:
You are more than the captain of your soccer team,
student government leader,
academic all star…

“Do you want to be a big fish in small pond or a small fish in a big pond?”

I cringed when the man interviewing you for college asked you this question — and so many other questions that just don’t seem to matter in life.

Like….
“How will you differentiate yourself?”

Please.

I wanted to grab a hard-backed Starbucks chair, run over to your table and plop down right next to you.

To his silly, antiquated questions, I wanted to sing:

What do you totally, absolutely love?
What do you love to do in your spare time?
What flips you out?
What makes you cringe?
What humongous, crazy, totally outlandish, big, fat, wild dream do you have for yourself?

What makes you, YOU?
What will you never, ever, give up because you love it so much?
What makes you want to dance? sing? run? laugh until your sides hurt?

No matter where you go to college, no matter what school or club you go to, get kicked out of or never fit into…

You have YOU.
And that, my dear, is the most precious gift of all.
Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Oh, yeah… and one more thing:

No matter what college accepts you — follow your heart.

All my best wishes for a fantastic life,

From The Stranger Who Believes In You

P.S. You can do anything.

Day 280: for the love of a patriot and a big bird

7 Oct

Today, Justin wouldn’t let me leave the house without wearing some sort of New England Patriots’ gear.

So he gave me his sweatshirt:

And the team won. Hey, I’m not saying my patronage had anything to do with it, but you know those fans. They LOVE their team (and superstitions).

Speaking of fans… I hear Big Bird may be in need of some more. You can check out the Million Muppet March here if you are so inclined.

And if that’s not your thing, then I say…
Just follow your heart.
