JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 96 :: whispering joy

5 Apr
{listening joy}

I can feel joy whispering in my ears these days. This is what happens when I approach the 100+ day mark. I start to feel the power of my promise pulse in my veins. But its very small… almost like a whisper.

Which brings me to this: listening.

Listening to our joys might be even more important than experiencing joy.
Listen to the whispers in your ear.
Listen to the joy that wants to carry you forward.

They are the sound of your dreams brewing and blooming.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 58 :: joyful

28 Feb

 I was thinking a lot about faith today. The power of keeping the faith. The importance of believing in your dreams and passions, even in the face of diversion. I once read that the setback is really the set-up. The stepping stone to what is next.

It has me thinking that Faith is the thread that pulls us forward when we can’t see in the dark. And JOY is on the other side…pulling and tugging and drawing us near.

Here’s to faith – and joy!

More tomorrow…

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 304 :: pay it forward

31 Oct

I spotted this at a coffee shop yesterday. Pay it forward for a buck. So I did. When I bought my tea I added a dollar to the purchase and left a little message for some stranger who will someday need a cup of tea or coffee or a hit of chai. At that very moment, they will receive a free cup and read my note.

It’s good to know there is still Kindness in our world.

BLOG – GIFT DAY 253 :: no turning back

12 Sep

In so many ways this year has been tough.
So many changes, so many questions, and so much wading through the vast unknown.

And now, all of a sudden, I feel like I am on the “other side” of the surgery and all the “questions” that have occupied my head, heart, body and soul.

Being on this side feels like a new life, another chance, a re-start.
I know this feeling all too well.

Every health issue I have ever had has served as a kick in the pants. A reminder that we are here to love, we are here to learn, we are here, period.  So just do what you want to do already!

Today I found a surprise in my suitcase. It’s a wine opener with a message that opened up my heart as soon as I read the words inscribed on it:

No Turning Back

It was placed there by Jaynane, in her signature style of heart-warming surprises.

She has been reminding me of this ever since we got the good news of my cancer-free clean bill of health — there is no turning back.

And she’s right.
There is only moving forward.

That is the precious present of time, although it comes with a double-edged sword that swiftly moves us forward whether we are ready or not.

So tonight I ask… if you know there is no turning back, how will you move forward?

What will you do next?

More tomorrow.
Lovemore {fearless}

{what will you do next?}

Day 112: f*ing friday :: forward

22 Apr

Today continues the weekly series, F*ing Fridays, which will coincidentally occur on Friday. I mentioned some of my favorite F words back on Day 5, including: Fearless, Fabulous, Fine, Fun, Faith, Freedom, Forgiveness, to name a Few.

Last week I dove into the word Fête.

Today’s F*ing Friday is dedicated to the word:

As in, looking forward.

Tonight, while taking my bath I made a mental list of all the things I have to look forward to over the next year.

Shopping in January 2012 with Holly Getty!

Going to Paris next April with Women on Fire!
Moving back to Martha’s Vineyard in May!

Soon after, plans for this weekend crept into my cranium:

I look forward to visiting Corkscrew Wildlife Sanctuary to hopefully spot an alligator, live, in person (from a very safe boardwalk).  I have to see one before we leave Florida!

Also on the looking forward list is North Naples Green Market for tomorrow morning. We have yet to check out this local farmer’s market which closes on April 30th.

And, my tummy is definitely looking forward to a breakfast of strawberries, blueberries and granola (even though it’s been a mere two hours since I had dinner!).

I must be a looking-forward kind of gal.

I can easily wonder off to dreamland, looking forward to special life moments, crazy adventures, super celebrations and measly milestones.

I look forward to having Christmas with family, holiday food, new puppies, old friends, good wine, dark chocolate and sunsets on the beach.

Let’s face it, I even look forward to my toe nail polish rubbing off so I can get a new color!

It’s beats the alternative, looking backward.

But, right in the middle of my looking forward frivolity I missed something.

My bath water.
I spent all day looking forward to my evening bath, and then spent the entire bath looking forward to something else.

Snuggled in between the backwards and forwards of it all is something worth not missing:

The here and now.
The present.
This moment.

I look forward to trying again tomorrow.
