Kindness.

Oh yeah. I’m going to bed early tonight. And all my head can think is… how wonderfully kind is that?

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 107 :: blanking kindness

20 Apr

Writing the future.

I’m reading a new book – or, rather listening to one on Audible. It’s called The Three Laws of Performance.

You can listen to an audio sample here.

In it, a concept is shared called, “blanking the canvas.” And I like it. It’s all about needing to wipe the slate clean in order to create a new future. Or, possibly better said, in order to create a new future you need to wipe out the past – or at least come to terms with it, releasing yourself from it.

By doing this, you create space. Space to write a new future.

And that has me thinking about my promise of kindness. Maybe, just maybe, to create a future of kindness we have to come to terms with the unkindness of the past.

And maybe, by being honest about the past, forgiving it, settling it, moving on from it, we can all move into a future written on the pages of kindness.

Here’s to writing the future.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 106 :: timing and kindness

19 Apr

Enjoying time.

Kindness is teaching me much this year – already.
Including the respect of time, and timing, and divine timing.

It’s a hard lesson to learn, for me, one who pushes and pulls against the strands of chronological time. Always wanting more. Always pushing for more. Always feeling as though the hourglass needs more sand.

But, today, I was gently and firmly reminded that we have time. Lots and loads of time. Beyond our imagination and perception and calculations.

And I cannot think of a KINDER way to look at life. This life. In this time.

With great kindness, enjoy your time.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 105 :: apple is rotting my kindness

18 Apr

Complaints.

We are this far into the year and I’ve hit my first true kindness dilemma. Apple Support. I have been on two calls with two different people about my Apple ID and I cannot get any help or true support for that matter.

I am locked out. And the only thing that Apple Support people can tell me is to wait. It’s been over a week and I still don’t have my Apple ID password resolved. It affects ALL my Apple devices, including computer, phone, watch and iPad.

So what does one do when they made a promise to be KIND and are having a support dilemma to the degree of wanting to yell at the top of her lungs and scream into the phone at the very unsupportive support person?

Nothing.

Apparently waiting is all I can do.
Other than write this blog.
And complain to the people who can only say, “It’s in process” and “if it isn’t resolved in another week call us back again.”

All this makes me wonder ….where do kindness and customer support intersect when nobody can solve your problem?

I guess have to wait to find out.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 102 :: birthday kindness

15 Apr

Pup.

Pup turned sixteen today. He’s the Number One dog around here – marked with the shape of a number one on his chest in a patch of white fur.

It’s more than a moniker for his highness or a mark on his chest. It is his essence. He is a sweet boy, as kind (and stubborn) as they come. Ironically his birthday is on Tax Day, April 15. He is the kindest part of this day, every year.

Today he had his most favorite of adventures – a car ride to the park, a sniff along the shore, and a walk down the boardwalk to meet and greet all sorts of people.

As part of our annual tradition, today was also The Pinning Ceremony – the day we pin the new number on his chest. A tradition since his 10th birthday. It’s just a paper cutout of a number taped to his chest long enough to snap a photo while we feed him treats.

Today, we pinned a six next to his one. Sweet Sixteen.
So sweet it is.

He loves it.
So do we.

He was lost and found. Left on the side of an Oregon highway in a box with a bunch of puppy sisters. Found by Justin. Loved by us both.

Happy Birthday, dear Pup. You teach us kindness every single day. And also, how to be stubborn and get what you want. The perfect blend if you ask me!

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 100 :: being kind

13 Apr

Oh, love.

Sometimes, it is easiest to be kind to those we love. And sometimes, that is the hardest kind of kindness. Isn’t it ironic? Don’t you think.

We are made kind by being kind.
And, isn’t that the best kind of kindness?

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 98 :: kindness

11 Apr

Sharing.

Tonight, my act of kindness was a sandwich and a trip to the store. Sometimes it really is the little things that are the biggest. And sharing even just a sandwich makes it all the sweeter.

More tomorrow….

Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 97 :: kindness comes in pretty packages

10 Apr

You’ve Got Mail.

Ah, kindness. You’re starting to kick in. Or kick my butt. So many lessons learned already in these short few months.

Some, are lessons I would rather not see in myself. A shade of unkindness, a shadow of mean, a sting of being sorry for words better off not said. But, as we know, when you are ready the teacher appears. And so, with each lesson, I remain open to the meaning. And growth.

And then, there are the surprises!

Today, I received a pretty little package in the mail, from a friend. It held a little red card and inside a little red envelope and inside of that a beautiful note and pretty little penny. And, for me, it was a huge surprise.

It was beyond kind. The KIND of KINDNESS that you don’t expect.

And that has me thinking… maybe making a promise of intentional kindness isn’t so much about what I give. Maybe it’s also about opening up the door to receive.

As the year moves forward we shall see. Until then, may kindness find you with beautiful little surprises (and lessons that don’t sting).

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie
