JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 153 :: kindness travels

24 Jun

Signs on the road.

We landed in Colorado. But before that… I started off the day with a heart on my breakfast taco.

And if that isn’t a good sign… what is?

But before that…the girls ran into Diana Taurasi in the airport, on our way to breakfast. They got her autograph. And if that isn’t a good sign…

After that…Justin ran into Kevin Smith at the airport. You know, Silent Bob.

Both were so kind in stopping for their autograph and photo. I couldn’t help but think about how much it means to a person, the kindness it takes, to see someone you look up to, and then have them return the favor.

There are so many instances in life where if we could just be KIND, to each other, to ourselves, to our loved ones and to perfectly good strangers… well….

Kindness Travels.
From one smile, nod, autograph and photo to another.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY :: 149 my kind of summer

21 Jun

Ah, Solstice.

It feels like it took you forever to get here. And now… here you are. Long night, lots of light, beautiful skies, and stars about to burst.

Part of me wishes every night were this kind.
Part of me knows the contrast is what we need. The dark meets the light.

But the other part of me says – HELLO SUMMER!

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

Spontaneous Slumber Party.

Is there anything more fun than a spontaneous slumber party?
Or kind?

I don’t think so!
And, so, I am thankful and enjoying my margarita and spontaneous girls day/night!
How kind!

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

 JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 163 :: kind memories

15 Jun

Birds and Magic.

We watched ESPN’s 30 For 30 Tonight. It brought back memories, oldies but goodies. Full of Magic and Birds.

It brings back good childhood sports memories and makes me wonder about kindness. The kindness that happens when adversaries and rivals transcend social consciousness by respecting each other. And for one brief decade, all is right in the world.

If it can happen in a game, can it happen in real life?
And what would be possible if it did?

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

 JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 162 :: opposite of kindness

14 Jun

Who me?

This is not a look of kindness. This is a look of too many monkeys jumping on the bed.

It’s also a look of:
 What? Who me? Why are you yelling?

Maybe it’s bad four-legged parenting. The bed was made and then I swear I turn my head for a moment and I find two dogs, a messy bed and two looks of incredulousness.

I yell. Then I laugh. Then I take a photo. It’s a cycle with these two.

I think their job is to keep me on my kind toes. And I think kindness is trying to teach me patience – and how to roll with it. Whatever “it” may be.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 159 long summer nights

11 Jun

So cool.

It’s after 9pm and the sun is still out. The air is warm. The breeze is calm. It’s a perfect summer night. And it’s not even summer yet – not officially.

It reminds me of being a little girl, trying to sleep on a school night when it felt like a summer night. Listening to the birds sing in the twilight and the adults still sitting outside, talking as if it were summer.

It’s hard to sleep when the sun still shines. But kindness seems to grow stronger in the sunshine, the warm summer sunshine.

Kindness is the sunshine in which virtue grows.” – Robert Green Ingersoll

Here’s to long summer nights, and enjoying their kindness while they are here.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 157 4-letter friday

9 Jun

Flow.

As in flower.

I passed this flower stand on my way home today. Situated at the corner of the path through the park it caught my eye. Just one vase of red flowers left.

And a note.

I love the idea of a flower stand and the idea of trust.
Trusting that people will pay for their flowers and pay it forward so that there may be more flowers.

Keeping it in the flow.
How kind.

Jamie

 JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 156 :: intentional kindness

8 Jun

Spirit.

As a marketer, I love promotions. So, of course, I was excited about Spirit’s bonus middle seat promo yesterday while I was onboard – and sitting in a middle seat.

The promo was this:  PA announcement that there was one lucky middle seat on the plane and that person would win a free one-way ticket 0or 5000 bonus miles. All you had to do was pull down your seat tray table and look for the lucky sticker.

I pulled down my tray table with anticipation!
There was nothing there.
And yet, I still had much respect for Spirit’s promotion, because let’s face it, middle seats suck.

So, on my next flight from LA to Seattle when the PA announcement started up I knew what was going to happen. I pulled down the middle seat tray table and what did I find?

This!

It was the LUCKY middle seat. The only problem was this. I was in the aisle seat, and a young woman was in the window seat. The middle seat between us was empty.

I knew exactly what I had to do. Intentional kindness. I smiled at the young lady and said, “you should ring your call button and claim it.”

She smiled back and said, “Really?”
“Yes.” I exclaimed.

So she did, and when the flight attendant approached row 13 with the special yellow ticket in hand she looked at both of us and said, “Do you want to fight over it?”

You probably know how this story ends. I gave up the free ticket and handed it over –  happily – to the young woman with a smile on her face. It was the KIND thing to do. And here’s the rub! It made me SO HAPPY to give it to her. Funny how that works.

Kindness is contagious.
Kindness matters.
Give kindness a (LUCKY!) chance.

Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY :: 154 early flight

6 Jun
More kindness.

I leave Chicago in the morning on a 6AM flight… and right now that is not feeling very kind of myself – booking a crack of the morning departure. What was I thinking?

And then there is this:

I like the sound of that – a kinder lifestyle. And right now, I’m thinking, maybe it should start with better flight times.
