JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 112 :: the roses are coming

The roses are coming! The roses are coming!

And the rhododendrons aren’t far behind. I can hardly wait.

Since moving to Oregon, the land of flowers, I have been perplexed by the petals popping out of the ground. Like magic, seemingly dormant and disguised as dried up branches, a bud appears. And then a bloom. And I stand mesmerized. Every. Single. Time.

It’s like budding bliss each time as it buoys my soul.
And we have lift off.

2014 BLOG – DAY 7 :: peak performance: lift

Ice Cream and Downton Abbey. 

I’m pretty sure this isn’t a recipe for Peak Performance, but here I sit with a bowl of ice cream and screen full of Downton Abbey reruns.

Every girl needs a day to cheat, right?

Speaking of cheating, I discovered a new site tonight, one that helps with your diet goals — whatever they may be. It’s aptly called:  Lift Quantified Diet.

You choose the diet of you dreams, be it Paleo or Vegetarian, or something else in the choices of 10 diets …and then report your results, get daily support, and hopeful lose those pounds.

It’s billed as the largest randomized trial of popular diet. (They are designing the study with advice from researchers at UC Berkeley and Stanford.)

It’s intriguing for sure.  But all that aside, it has me thinking about the word LIFT.

Raise to a higher position or level. Elevate. Hoist. Heave! 
Yes, that seems to fit my promise of peak performance.

Who knows what I will find out this year as the promise unfolds.
Right now I am enjoying a bowl of ice cream and the decadence of Downton Abbey.
