JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 223 :: joy is a new and old

12 Aug
{contrast}

It seems that the best things in life are either new or old. For example: Babies (new). Grandparents (old). Both so very special. On my end of the world I am adding so much new to my life… new job, new couch, new townhouse, new town. And yet at the same time I’m waiting for the old to catch up to me….my old life including my beloved Justin and Brady.

There is so much joy in the new and the old. Sometimes the new enhances the old. Sometimes the old enhances the new.

Here’s to newness and oldness and joy.

More tomorrow…

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 302 :: jump back

4 Nov

Day 302: baby steps.

Today I did something new. I jumped back. Like…. literally, I jump my body back out of a yoga pose into plank pose. It’s a revelation. It’s new. It’s surprising because I’ve never been able to do it before.

But, then, I did DO it. It just happened. Without even thinking about it.

It all has me thinking about my brain. That thing in my head that tells me I can and I can’t.

Namaste, brain. Namaste.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 208 newness

3 Aug

Day 208: newbies.

I’m starting to feel like I need to rev up this yoga promise of mine. And then I realize I’m beating myself up for not doing more. And then I realize that that is SO. NOT. very yoga of me.

And then, I pat myself on the back for trying something new.

Here’s to another day of yoga.
And trying something new.
Even if it’s small….it’s something.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 301:: big leaf bliss

1 Nov

Today’s bliss…. big leaves!

It’s been raining for days, and the crazy thing is…. it hasn’t bothered me at all. I’m still in Washington awe. I have the eyes of a child. Everything is brand new.

Including these ENORMOUS leaves… they are HUGE!

(Just to put it in perspective I wear a size ten shoe and that is ONE leaf.)

And if you look closely the smaller yellow leaf is the shape of a heart.
Oh, bliss!

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

BLOG – GIFT DAY 343 :: december travel: hello chicago

9 Dec

Good morning snowy Chicago.

My you look pretty in the snow!  Until, of course, I walked down your streets through blustering winds, then you just looked cold…. kind of like The Windy City.

Tonight I am reminded that “new” is always a gift.

New snow is so beautiful. So clean, pristine, pretty and magical.

It’s a gift to remember that “New” is always a gift.
And that is so easy to forget.

More tomorrow.

Day 123: try something new

3 May

When was the last time you tried something new?
Like, really, tried something never-been-done-before in your life?

Last Friday, I added a new adventure to The Promise 365.

Something I have never done before.
It took place at a spa.
Under water.

Can you guess what it was?

What’s up WATSU?

It’s Water + Shiatsu.
If you need to relax every cell of your body, and you love a warm bath, well WATSU is right up your alley!

I owe a huge thanks to Debbie Phillips for introducing me to this amazing treatment.

It was so relaxing I was left certifiably comatose for hours later.
Seriously.

(Plus, I did get up at 4 o’clock in the morning to watch the royals wed, so it helped that I was almost asleep by the time I hit the water.)

I have to admit I felt a few nerves before hopping in the pool.
Which seems silly doesn’t it?

But, the reason is simple.
It was just because I had never done it before.

Which reminds me why being a child is so awesome.
As is awe + something new.

When was the last time you tried something new and felt that fresh spark of nerves run up your spine?

Or saw the world through new eyes, or tried a new experience, or put yourself out there and jumped in with both feet at the same time?

The Promise 365 isn’t always easy, but these new experiences and adventures are so worth it.

Standing on the edge of the pool is always the hardest part.
If you’ve got something new you want to try, I say this:
Dive In!
