JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 205 :: vintage

31 Jul

Day 205: priceless.

Life is pretty special when you get to spend it with those you love. And birthdays are even more special when you get to spend them with those you love too.

Today we celebrated Jaynane and Colin, two birthdays in one week but a lifetime in the making. Before I do my yoga, as I sit atop an air mattress writing this post surrounded by a house full of sleeping kids, adults, and adults who act like kids (or is it the other way around?) I’m reflecting on what it takes to be a vintage classic.

Vintage is old, sure, but it’s so much more than that.
Vintage is aged but wise.
Vintage is better with age, really. Aged to perfection you might say.
Vintage is priceless, powerful and precious.
It’s pretty darn good. Precisely.
And one might say, that’s pretty fabulous.

We think Jaynane is fabulous too, and at 70 and every year, month, week and day leading up to this moment in time, she proves that life can get more beautiful and bountiful with age.

She is so vintage.
Aged to perfection, and it only gets better from here.
Because the celebration continues tomorrow…

Here’s to tomorrow.
A vintage classic in the making.

More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 336 :: blissful party

6 Dec

Today’s bliss…a birthday party.

We spent the afternoon with our newly minted nine-year old niece. Nine. Years. Old. Nine!

She is one of the reasons why we moved north. To be close enough for soccer games and birthday parties. In a few short months we have accomplished both.

And the best part is that we are cherishing every moment. Because while you count everything from half birthdays to school years and summer days when you are nine, the reality is that time flies when you’re an aunt and uncle.

We know we have a short window of time to be present for all the amazingly blissful moments of being nine. Because then comes ten. And I know it’s just right around the corner.

Sometimes the best present of a birthday is Staying Present.
Carpe diem dear nine.

More tomorrow.

Day 218: three things i love more than chocolate (today!) :: boston, crashing parties, dog gone treats

6 Aug

The gratitude continues with Three Things I LOVE more than chocolate…today — and a Lovemore-Monday moment.

I crashed a party tonight. But, not just any party — a dog gone good one!

I’m staying at my friend Lucy’s house, (here she is, such a cutie).

Lucy’s parents invited me to a fun night out with Wanna Go Out, her dog walking service, at their annual customer appreciation night.

Because I have Pups of my own, I felt right at home with all the other Boston doggy parents who were there to sip and savor this hot summer night with some pretty yummy treats.

Like Hot “Dogs”  and Jalapeño “Puppers.”

You know when you’re at a dog loving party when the name tag requires you to put both your name and your dog’s name on it!

And, on this Lovemore Monday, I have to admit…
I. Love. It.

What did you love today?
