Day 69. Ouchie.

Ten minutes of Plank tonight. Not all ten minutes in a row, there were child poses and downward dog breaks. It sounds easy, right?

Yeah… not so easy say my wrists and arms.

But I am consoled by the fact that our muscles become stronger by being ripped, literally, torn. And I’m sure I will feel it in the morn.

I also know that pain is fleeting. Only felt in the moment.
And that reminds me….to make sure the moment is worth it.

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 150 :: challenge!

I like a good healthy challenge. But tonight… man… this one got me.

I’m planking up to 1:25 on attempt number two at the 3 minute plank. It’s getting shakier and shakier…but I’m determined.

And for my next trick I will try getting up at 2am for 5am flight.

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 110 :: treadmill, wall sits, plank, oh my!

Treadmill. Wall sits. Plank.

This body is getting back in action….tonight we hit 60 seconds on the plank.

This was only after we did our requisite 35 seconds and then Justin challenged me to a minute. So we did it, shaking muscles and all. Given the timing increase and my sheer determination to keep planking it up, I found this inspiring image.

Tomorrow night I think I may need to start reading a magazine article to get through…

I’m such a sucker for a challenge. So I can’t pass this one up:  The 30-Day Plank Challenge! Who’s in?

We started tonight. Fifteen seconds. Seems easy enough, right?

What’s fifteen seconds? Enough time for me to eat a handful of chocolate… So, game on.

Will it bring some body bliss? Maybe, we’ll find out. After all, A strong core is the foundation to a strong body.”

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 321 :: one minute and 25 seconds

Peak performance moment of the day: one minute and twenty five seconds!

That’s my new record for a timed plank. It’s a full fifteen seconds longer that last week. (And if you’ve been around here for a while you know that I started at a mere 30 second plank after the whole mastectomy surgery trilogy).

It feels good to make these muscles work again.

And all it makes me think is this…
The more you favor work the more it works in your favor.  

One minute twenty five seconds!!!

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 316 :: one minute and ten seconds

A lot can happen in one minute. And today, I am happy to report that my Peak Performance moment of the day was one minute and ten seconds long.

Seems like a short little moment at first glance. After all, it’s only one minute plus a few seconds. But today, it was my peak performance plank. 

I have been going to Pilates physical therapy for a few months now. A few weeks after I started my stretching we timed my plank. It was just over 30 seconds. And today, a month later, I hit 70 seconds.

More than double!

What’s the point?  What you focus on expands. What you measure gets attention. What you try, show up for, do, try again, gets better.

One minute and ten seconds!
And that, I think, just may be the secret of peak performance.
