JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 125 :: trust yourself

7 May

{trust}

I attended a networking event in Boston tonight, full of amazing women in marketing. All “marketeers” and yet all superwomen at the same time too. The amount of knowledge and experience was amazing and it reminded me that we all have to trust what we know because no one else can.

  It truly is our job to trust ourselves. Trust must be earned when it comes to another human being, but it is bestowed upon oneself.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 90 :: trust in spring

2 Apr

{trust}

Spring is coming! Spring is coming!

We have officially spotted a flower poking out of the ground. We are pretty sure it’s a yellow daffodil just waiting to bloom. It has me thinking about trust and spring and how they can bloom hand-in-hand.

It’s a good reminder to be like a flower. Bloom and grow and trust the spring.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 89 :: trust the ones you are with

1 Apr

{trust}

I started out my day with a routine blood draw. It’s never fun, it’s not like I look forward to it, but I have become a pro at getting through it. Pull up my sleeve, pump my fist, wait for the poke. “Tiny poke” they always say.

Today was just a little draw, one tiny vial for my thyroid check-in. While I am a pro at sitting in the chair waiting for the nurse to whip out a needle, today, the nurse on the other side of the equation was new. In fact, she was an intern.

“You don’t mind if Amy takes care of you today, do you?” the seasoned nurse asked and gave me a look that said, you better say yes.

“Of course not,” I nodded and felt a shiver go down my spine. “Just don’t make me cry” I begged. They all laughed. Then the needles came out.

Amy was perfectly lovely. I was rooting for her as I sat in the chair and she swabbed my arm. I sweet-talked my veins and asked them to pop up for her just so it would be easy… on all of us. I couldn’t help but think about how in this year of TRUST I had placed myself in a precarious position to trust an intern.

Amy was good though. I was calm. But my veins were hiding. They didn’t want to come out to play. Finally, one did and I waited for it to all be over without looking, of course, if there is one thing I have learned, it is that watching makes it worse.

Then, Amy started to get nervous, she called the seasoned nurse over for help. My vein seized up and I could feel the needle digging in poking back and forth as they tried to fill the vial.  Finally, it was over and I let out a big sigh.

I smiled at Amy and told her she did a good job. I have no idea if I was her first patient but I do know this:  We are all learning together.

Sometimes, we have to trust the ones we are with.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 81 :: trust is a state of being

23 Mar

{trust}

Ah, trust. The sun will come out tomorrow! It snowed last night but the weather app on my phone says it will be always 60 degrees tomorrow. Does that mean Spring is really almost here?

Trust me, I’m ready. And as I wait for the weather to turn into warm summer breezy days I have to sit in a state of trust. Trust is truly a state of being.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 67 :: trust your gut

9 Mar

{trust}

I went into work today… on a Saturday. I know, drat. I woke up this morning so grateful to sleep in and then as I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes I remembered I had to get up, get dressed, put on makeup and go to work.

Then, it turned out that I didn’t need to be there. It’s a long story, but the punchline is that it really wasn’t mandatory for me to be there today and I could have slept in had I known. I could have done so many other things, but alas, that is now the past.

I had a small suspicion that the day would turn out this way right about the time my head hit the pillow last night. I should have paid attention to my gut. I should have listened. I should have listened to all the wisdom that lies within.

Our guts are very intelligent radar systems. Built to inform us if only we would stop for a moment and listen to the whispers from within.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 30 :: trust is landing

30 Jan

{trust}

A trusted friend recently told me that we always land on our feet. I like that image for the idea of trust. Two feet landing firmly on the ground. Because if you know the ground will always catch you it’s easier to jump.

Maybe trust is about jumping higher. And maybe if you trust, it will take you further, faster.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 16 :: happy

16 Jan

{trust}

Today I am trusting happiness.

As I was driving home tonight I felt the lightness and lift that comes with happiness. The world flew by me in slow motion, each street light, turn, house and landmark along the way. Then that familiar hill in the final stretch home with a glimpse of the Boston skyline.

Most of the time I feel happy, so it wasn’t a surprise to recognize this emotion. But it was so wonderful to see it all play out in slow motion as if I was recording each and every turn.

It has me thinking that trust is also about recognition. Really seeing all that is before us. Trusting the view.

Thank you, Trust.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 2 :: trust the timing

2 Jan

{trust}

Ah, trust. You are already screwing with me. Or at least playing games with my mind. Yesterday, I fell down a flight of stairs. Today, I missed an appointment, mostly because I was on my back all day yesterday and didn’t have time to prepare for the week ahead.

So that leaves me with this lesson of the day: trust the timing. It’s all I can do. My appointment was rescheduled out into the future and there it will wait for me. I am here in the present learning how to trust timing.

Maybe the future date will be better timing instead of today?
Maybe I will learn something or gain something before it arrives?
Maybe it’s just the universe testing my faith in trust?
Or, maybe it is all of the above…whatever it is I am focusing on trust.

Lovemore,
Jamie
