JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 133 :: trust there is always a reason

14 May

We just returned from a night with the Boston Pops. It was a pre-birthday present for Justin who is a huge Star Wars fan and constantly quotes lines from the movies (do or do not there is no try) or drops them casually into a conversation (fly casual). The event melded the live musical score and the classic movie Star Wars A New Hope into one amazing experience with a movie screen hovering above the live orchestra in Symphony Hall. I have never seen the movie in this light and I have never appreciated the music behind it so much before.

The two on their own are masterpieces. When combined they are absolute magic.

It makes me so deeply appreciate the gifts and talents of those who create great works of art, stories, cinema, cinematic drama, music and more…. They are the stuff gifts are made of, they are also the stuff life is made for – appreciation.

We all have gifts. What a shame to not share yours with the world.

  And that brings me to trust.
Trust there is always a reason to shine.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 125 :: a little bit of orange

5 May

Day 125: Orange.

I once had a healer tell me I should wear more orange. So I bought a thick, long-sleeved Lulu Lemon bright orange yoga top. If you’re going to go orange, you go all the way, right?  I barely wear it anymore…but I have never looked at the color orange the same way since. It still calls my name and it speaks to me in subtle ways.

So today when these orange flowers popped up before me I was called to pay attention.

And that may be what the healer was trying to tell me all along. It probably had nothing to do with name brand, well fitting, highly priced yoga wear. It most likely had more to do with being bright, noticing, shining, and looking for the places where we can be bright, notice and shine.

Sometimes I think clothing speaks to me.
And sometimes I think flowers say more than words ever could.

Thank you Orange.

More tomorrow.

P.S. Yoga up next!

Day 249: hint, hint … roll up your car windows

6 Sep

On this first day of the post Labor Day weekend, what some would call the official demarcation of FALL — we woke up to sheets of rain falling from the sky.

Lots of rain.
Many, many, buckets of rain.

Which would have been completely refreshing if I had not left the sunroof wide open on my car and all the windows down because yesterday was a beautiful, bright, sunshiny day.

This morning, not so much sun.
Way more rain.

And, THAT, would not be so terrible except that I have done it before.  Last time it was snow.  About six inches of snow.  Do you know what six inches of snow looks like sitting in your drivers seat?

Today, I drove around all day, in between errands, with the heat turned up to a full blast 90 degrees, hoping to dry up the water.

I suppose the lesson in all of this, for my head, is, to some degree to remember to roll up car windows, and then again, maybe it is to remember to check the weather report.

Maybe still, for my heart, the lesson is to enjoy the sun while it shines but prepare for changing winds and sweeping rains, just in case they arrive.

Or, maybe …it is simply to roll up car windows.

No matter the lesson, it was a good excuse to wear my rain boots.
