JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 137 :: trust in happy

18 May

{trust}

The sun came out today. I went shopping for summer clothing. I am now eating chocolate. Justin is watching Star Wars. This is happy.

There are many other things around me that don’t feel all that happy. The fervent doctrines of polarizing political parties all over social media. Our planet warming at alarming rates. The Red Sox lost today.

But if there is something life has taught me, and trust is underscoring this year, it is to trust in happiness. Finding the little things in life to make you happy is an art and a science.

One thing I know to be true, the happier we are with the little things the more we are able to make changes to the big things. So look for the happy. And when that doesn’t work… maybe eat some chocolate.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 133 :: trust there is always a reason

14 May

{trust}

We just returned from a night with the Boston Pops. It was a pre-birthday present for Justin who is a huge Star Wars fan and constantly quotes lines from the movies (do or do not there is no try) or drops them casually into a conversation (fly casual). The event melded the live musical score and the classic movie Star Wars A New Hope into one amazing experience with a movie screen hovering above the live orchestra in Symphony Hall. I have never seen the movie in this light and I have never appreciated the music behind it so much before.

The two on their own are masterpieces. When combined they are absolute magic.

It makes me so deeply appreciate the gifts and talents of those who create great works of art, stories, cinema, cinematic drama, music and more…. They are the stuff gifts are made of, they are also the stuff life is made for – appreciation.

We all have gifts. What a shame to not share yours with the world.

  And that brings me to trust.
Trust there is always a reason to shine.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 360 :: the last jedi

26 Dec
{jedi traditions}

Tonight marks a beloved holiday tradition. One almost as big as Santa himself… Star Wars.

It’s still vacation around here and the holiday magic continues. Soon it will be 2018 and an entirely new year to welcome and celebrate with plans and wishes and surprises in store.

But tonight is reserved for the Jedi. The magic of storytelling. The smell of movie theatre popcorn. And, of course, the best part, family traditions.

How kind.
May the force be with you.

More tomorrow…

Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 142 :: kindness is…

25 May

The Force.

Tonight we talked about some memories of our youth – watching Michael Jordan play basketball and seeing Star Wars for the first time.

Both seemed to have that special something. Some might call it The Force. And…Today is the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars.

It has me thining about kindness. Being kind is a force too. A powerful one, when harnessed for good and prosperity and human kind. It’s an invisible one as well – one that can only be felt, sometimes seen in the way it makes an impact or a reaction.

The other similarity is this – we all have access to the force of kindness. It lives inside each of us.

Remember…
the Force will be with you, always.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 362 :: for carrie

27 Dec

Day 361: 2016.

Well, 2016. You are going out with a bang aren’t you?

Bon voyage, Carrie Fisher.

Feels like I just saw you last night at the movie theater. And, I did due to some pretty amazing CGI.

And so, 2016, you continue to be full of surprises. All the more reason for us to focus on what matters most. I will be focusing on yoga for a few more days and then…. on to the next promise!

What will 2017 bring you?
What are you focusing on?
What is your NEXT new year going to be all about?

Namaste, Surprises. Namaste.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 360 :: wrapping up

27 Dec

Today’s bliss…a story for the ages.

Christmas already seems like a week ago. But today was another sort of gift we wrapped up – our official Star Wars movie day.

Just like being a child again, with big eyes watching a big screen, this movie seemed to be the grand finale of the holiday. Much like a family gathering, the movie met us with both new characters and old acquaintances to remember all over again.

And that has me thinking about Stories. The beginning, middle and end that wrap us all together. The stories of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and the hopes for Christmas future. Echoing with the time that we did this, that, and do you remember when? Memories in the making. Ones that speed by way too fast.

Just like the great Story that we saw play out on the big screen today. There were no lulls, no sticking points, no weird plot lines, just pure anticipation, reaction, and glimpses of what might come next but not wanting to get there too soon. Otherwise known as being Present.

Maybe the best gift of all.

Speaking of being Present, I’m trying to remain focused on the Bliss of this year. But I know all too well a New Year is to arrive all too soon. So, tomorrow, I will share my new Promise. Maybe you too will want to come along too?

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 356 :: oh bliss, finally it’s here

26 Dec

Today’s bliss…tomorrow.

The night before Star Wars and all through the house…
Not a creature was sleeping (or barking) not even a mouse.

What’s better than Christmas morning?

Tomorrow is Star Wars movie time, tickets in hand, matching T-shirts ready to go. Finally. It’s. Almost. Here.

Tomorrow is the day. The only thing standing between us is sleep and counting sheep (or storm troopers). So, night, night.

The force, and the anticipation of bliss, awaits.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

Today’s bliss…oh joys of toys.
It’s the season of toys. And oh BOY did this make me laugh. Out. Loud. I can relate (just saying). I’m a few days behind on Saturday Night Live and…

If you haven’t seen it yet, enjoy:

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 347 :: may the force be with you

17 Dec

Today’s bliss…no wars.

On this night of the official debut of Star Wars The Return Of A Childhood Phenomenum, I am reminded that the best blissful wishful thinking of all would be no wars at all.

Here’s to peace on earth. May bliss be with you.

(And…don’t tell me what happened in the movie because I haven’t seen it yet.)

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 345 :: bliss and star wars

15 Dec

Today’s bliss…the blank side.

It’s really quite amazing, this Star Wars phenomenon. It’s everywhere. Every. Where. And, as Friday gears up to be the single biggest movie of all time first day release EVER, well, I just can’t get enough of the hype.

Including this from my friend and the amazing artist Bren Bataclan.

In this episode you learn how to draw an alien spacecraft in less than a few minutes. But the best lesson of all might be from Bren’s own words:

“Your imagination is the most important tool.”

When it comes to art and life, imagination leads the way. Thanks for the blissful reminder Bren (and Beanie!). Even Walt Disney and his Imagineers knew that. Ironically, Disney now owns the Star Wars franchise.

Which brings me to one of my favorite quotes:

If you can dream it, you can do it.
-Walt Disney

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
