JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 103 :: easter kindness

16 Apr

Sunshine.

He has risen! And when I say he, I mean the SUN.
It’s been a long winter.

Yet on this Easter Sunday, along with amazing food, family, and some outdoor fun, we had the grace and warmth of the Sun. The flowers were in full bloom too.

And, that may be the best kind of kindness.
Appreciation. Appreciating the everyday miracles around us.
Let the sun shine.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 85 :: rainy sun

29 Mar

Flowers.

The sun will come out tomorrow! Man… it feels like it’s been a long winter. And today with the rain falling outside my window, I cannot help but think it is really not quite Spring yet.

Then, miraculously, the sun came out. Late in the day. Just to peek in and show its face. And that has me thinking that sunshine is kindness. Just as is the rain.

The kind of kindness that takes two to makes the flowers bloom, the raindrops dry, and the grass green.

Welcome Spring. You are one wet mess!
And I kind of like it.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 72 :: no popsicles!

16 Mar

Sunshine.

Today was my first day all week without a popsicle for my sore throat. Which is nothing to celebrate, except that it is! My voice is coming back slowly, and my head is clearing slightly. And…. even better, the sun came out today.

Let me say that again. The sun came out today! And it… feels good. Feels like a little bit of kindness from Mother Nature and a lot of Vitamin D.

I’ll take both.

More tomorrow….
Lovemore,
Jamie

BLOG – GIFT DAY 340 :: sunshine in seattle

6 Dec

We have arrived. In Seattle.

It’s all here. The Space Needle. The flagship REI store. And, of course, Pearl Jam.

I’m having flashbacks to the movie Singles just being here.

But before we arrived …we stopped.  In Portland.
At Voodoo Doughnuts.

There are many things the Pacific Northwest has that simply amaze me.
Mountains. Ocean. Cities. Glaciers. Deserts. Lakes.

And, now, a bucket of doughnuts for $5.

I’m not making this up.
I kind of wish I were, but, yes, indeed, we bought a bucket of donuts to take north and share with family.

Bacon maple donuts.
Apple fritters covered in peanut butter and chocolate chips.

Hubba Bubba donuts.

And all that sugar reminds me of something.

Some say that everything has already been done.
To that I say, voodoo.

If you think there isn’t room for your big, crazy idea.
Think again.

Make it bigger, better, sweeter, and full of more bacon and sugar.
Make it unexpected.
But don’t give up.

Now excuse me, I’ve got a date with a donut….and some sunshine…in Seattle!

More tomorrow.

Day 214: three things i love… more than chocolate (today!)

2 Aug

There is a theory about gratitude, good health and abundance. It generally says that the more we focus on what we love, and what we are grateful for, the more goodness we get back in return.

So, today, in this Lovemore-Fearless year, starts a new series, called: Three Things I love…more than chocolate (today!)

These are three things I love today and am grateful for:

1. The Olympics

2. Sunshine

3. Life-long friends

What about you?
What do you love (more than chocolate) today?

Day 143: need some sunshine?

23 May

What was your “first” favorite color?

When I was a “little Jamie” my favorite color was yellow.
Chartreuse, lemon yellow, dandelion.  I loved them all.  If one would have been called sunshine I would have chosen it first!  I am worshiper of the sun, of warmth, of happiness.

In fact, I worked my crayons down to the little nub of those bright, sunny and happy yellows.

Now that I am a “big Jamie” I have officially made a sunny move.  This morning, I became a card carrying member of sunshine yellow.

A form of yellow that is aptly named the sunshine state.

Jamie, meet Florida.
Florida, meet Jamie.
You two should get along just fine.

Today, I officially transferred south, just as I pack for our drive back north.
Tomorrow, we leave for the long drive to Martha’s Vineyard for the summer.

I hear it’s a balmy 50-ish degrees up there!
So before I swap my flip flops and tennis skirt for sweaters and a rain coat I found a few tunes to put me in a sunny mental state.

You can read this list of over 100 sunshine songs if you want or need a little sunning up yourself.

As I pack up everything I own into little piles of “take” and “leave” for the summer months, I ponder if I have what I need (because I CAN’T buy anything!!).

But, then, a few minutes ago in the middle of my apartment (an apartment that looks like a bomb just went off between boxes and piles and papers!) a little diddy from Ms. Sheryl Crow reminded me:

It’s not having what you want.
It’s wanting what you’ve got.

May the sun find you this week.
Tomorrow I will be writing form the road…

xo~Jamie

P.S. A few chosen sunny songs are highlighted below.
From Sheryl Crow to The Beatles to Len there should be something for everyone.
