JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 100 :: tidy tidy

Day 100: One Hundred Days.

I’ve hit the first mark of the year. One Hundred Days. It’s usually the first sign of things to come, the promise that is unfolding, the true nature of the lesson that will inevitable unfold. If you’ve been here with me for a while you know what I’m talking about.

The Lesson.

It usually comes to full fruition by October, but the seeds have been planted with spring, and at One Hundred Days, well, we are getting into the thick of it.

So where are we now?  We are at Code TIDY.
And by that, I mean this: The life-changing magic of tidying up.

I read, or rather, listened on Audible, to this book during my travels. And, I couldn’t wait to get home to unpack.

I mean, seriously. Me. Excited to unpack. I HATE unpacking. I detest it, really. It’s such a chore, all the clothes that need to be washed, all those dirty ones that have soiled the ones that are still clean too, not the mention the socks that need to be found. They all need washed and folded and hung and put away and, well, after traveling I just don’t have the energy for it.

Until now.

I couldn’t WAIT to unpack and start the Japanese art of decluttering my suitcase. Here’s a sneak peek at the end result. Really, it’s so beautiful it almost made me cry.

This is just a drawer, sure. Yes, you’re right. It’s just a regular old drawer. But inside this drawer are all my pants. All my jeans. ALL of my jeans, neatly lined up in stacked rows so that I can see each and every one. It’s beautiful, really. Life changing indeed.

I have neatly organized drawers of all my yoga clothes, pajamas, socks, underwears, bras. I can literally SEE with my own two eyes all the clothes that I own by just opening up my closet doors and a few drawers.

I was so excited to show Justin you would have thought I had invented the light bulb, or sliced bread, or a cure for cancer. I walked him into my closet with such exuberance and then opened the doors with a huge smile on my face.

“Voila!! Isn’t it amazing?” I asked.
“Sure.” he answered. And I can’t blame him for his lack of excitement. He hasn’t organized his drawers yet, how could he understand? And, well, I may have oversold it. A bit.

But, let me just say. I love it. Love it, love it, love it. I may be the last to discover this folding art of organizing clothes, but I love seeing all my clothes, lined up in neat order, standing at attention as if asking me how they can be of service.

And so, here we are at Day One Hundred.

One hundred days of yoga in and I am a blubbering idiot about the contents of my drawers. My closet, a neatly organized mecca for size ten shoes. My drawers, a stacked deck of folded pants. My bras all standing at attention. My yoga clothes at the ready. My t-shirts all aligned. My pajamas at arms reach.

It’s blissful, really.
I promise.
Now, let’s see where else this promise takes us, eh?
We never know until we know.

More tomorrow.
