JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 135 :: and i think it’s going to rain today

20 May
The rains are here (and it’s a good thing we planted the garden yesterday). Grey skies make me sleepy. So I took a nap.

Actually, I had an ulterior motive. I plan to stay up for the last David Letterman Show.

I’m finding it hard not to see the spoiler alerts on social media…and trying really hard to watch the last show “live” on the west coast. But I already saw one spoiler… that Dave goes for laughs instead of tears.

Which is okay, because over here, it’s raining in the sky tonight. Which I would like to think as shedding a few tears over the bliss he has brought so many over the decades.

Thanks for the laughs, Dave.

“Bright before me the signs implore me
To help the needy and show them the way
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it’s going to rain today”
More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 42 :: hanging out with some bliss

11 Feb
Just hanging with the boys tonight… which includes this one:

Sometimes I think that’s all bliss is… the moment. This moment. That moment.

“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.”
– Omar Khayyam

More tomorrow.

  {what moment did you have today?}

Day 57: i made my first million

26 Feb

Today I made my first million.
Of course it was in paper money and I can’t really deposit it at the bank.

Semantics, schemantics.
All that matters is I felt what it was like to make my first million.
As my high school basketball coach, Coach Kohring, would say, “practice doesn’t make perfect, practice makes permanent.”

Back to today.
I made my first million over a cup of coffee at a little french bistro, playing the game CASHFLOW 101.

My friend Rosemary introduced me to the game because of The Promise 365. It definitely affected my head, since the concept of where I invest what is so top of mind.

The game is like Monopoly in concept, but with less emphasis on bankrupting everyone else.

In their own words:
“CASHFLOW® 101 the Board Game teaches you how to get out of the Rat Race and onto the Fast Track, where your money works for you instead of you working hard for your money.”

Let me put it this way:
There is no Get Out of Jail Free card
Instead there are DooDad cards which represent all the little “things” we can purchase in life.

I drew these DooDad cards:
Buy a Fishing Pole $80  (I need a fishing pole like Pup needs a dress)
Replace Tires on Car $200 (an expense that never feels good)

Ironically I never did draw this little ditty:

What I appreciate about the Cash Flow game is it poses deeper questions like:
What’s your dream?
Is it freedom of time?
Is it unlimited resources to travel the world?

It’s not just about buying up the entire block.
It’s more about being clear about what you want and how to get there.

Twenty years later, I am clear about this: Coach Kohring was right.
Practice does make permanent.
What I do today affects who I am tomorrow.

So …here’s the question:
What did you do today?
