JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 295 :: kind & relaxing

22 Oct
{Gilmore Girls}

Today was my lazy day. I ended up doing more than planned, and I have to say, that feels productive. And kind. Something about underpromising and overdelivering (even if only to my psyche!).

To cap it all off, I have decided to catch up with the girls – the Gilmore Girls.

Somehow I missed this show. It must have landed in my hectic, crazy busy years. But I have to say, it is fun to catch up on a time that already seems so far away. Slower pace. Small town charm.

And yet, the coffee addiction feels the same. This may be the sole TV character closest to my own coffee passion. Ironically, in this year of kindness, I have (again) given up coffee.

I am starting to think of it as a hiatus. Coffee is just on sabbatical. Feels better that way. And, it’s probably closer to the truth. I’m sure I will rebound at some date in the future. Until then, I will enjoy Lorelai Gilmore’s coffee addiction on screen as I get caught up on a decade I apparently missed.

And somehow, that seems kind.

More tomorrow…

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 99 :: flashbacks and comebacks

12 Apr
I watched the pilot of Friends tonight. It reminded of the good old times, the Ross and Rachael, the Monica haircut, the Chandler who knows what he does for work storyline. I was in college at the time and remember being glued to the television in the Park House living room at Smith College. Something about that show felt different.

And tonight, watching the Pilot all over again was a flashback.
So was this:

I just discovered it popping up in the front yard.

It’s a flower that a friend gave me last summer. I planted it. It promptly died. Or, rather, I didn’t know what to do to help it live in the hot summer 100+ degree heat.

I thought it was gone for good. So I was surprised to see the flower come back. Like a flower flashback.

It’s much like recognizing an old friend all over again. Like seeing Rachael and Monica.

What does this have to do with bliss?  I’m not sure. Maybe growing older is just a really big circle. Maybe we all circle back to who we were. Listening to the same old music, watching the same old shows, laughing at the same old jokes.

Or maybe just like the flower sprouting in my front yard, what we think is dead in the water is really just waiting for the perfect timing to stage a comeback.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
